Every mother wants only the best for their child,
especially first time mothers. Organising everything
for your new arrival can be a stressful time: ensuring
you have the highest quality, safest and most practical
products can take a lot of time. But by organising
your time effectively, your pregnancy and child’s early
months will run smoothly.
Create a ‘to-do’ list and leave plenty of time to get everything on
it done, at least two weeks before your due date. This to-do list
doesn’t just have to contain baby-related jobs; make a list of all
those small jobs around the house that you’ve been putting off,
such as fixing door handles and painting rooms, and work your
way through them, but don’t start any ambitious projects as they
may over run and cause unnecessary stress.
During your pregnancy, it’s vital to take care of yourself, so eat a
healthy diet, aiming for five portions of fruit and veg, as well as
a range of dairy products, dark green leafy
veg, beans, pulses and wholegrain cereals
for their zinc, b vitamins, folic acid and
calcium. However, don’t eat for two – it’s a
common mistake to consume more than
you need to because you’re pregnant, but
you actually only need an extra 300 calories
maximum during your third trimester (after
week 24).
The hard work really begins once your baby
arrives, but the worry doesn’t end when the
seemingly endless cycle of feeding, sleeping
and nappy changing does.
