Performance in the
Real World
There’s a lot to be said for controlled
tests and scientific measurement,
but one of our Hornady engineers
decided to take the 17 Mach 2 and
17HMR into the real world where
shooters like you use them every
day. Shooting the 17 Mach 2 and
22 LR cartridges side by side at a
local shooting range produced the
same kind of results the scientists
measured in controlled conditions –
tighter groups at all distances:
The targets keep getting
smaller, while the fun gets
bigger and better!
150 yds - didn’t hit the target!
Douglas Dickens “If you have shot for a
while you’ll eventually notice a bug crawling
on your target. And, if you are like any other
shooter, you cannot resist the temptation to
shoot at the bug. After firing, the bug is gone
but you’re never sure whether or not you’ve
hit it. Not so anymore. Pennsylvania black
find me another scope, a 6x with A.O. Then
I’ll go for head shots!”
William Breighner was shooting targets with his 17M2 from
the 50 yard line and a fly landed on it. Naturally, he decided he
had to take the shot. He writes, “When I pulled the trigger, the
fly just disappeared and a hole appeared where the fly was
parked. I wasn’t sure what happened, so I walked down range
for a closer look. Now, if you look at the hole, you’ll see the fly’s
leg and fragments on the target. Yup, hit it dead center!”
The evidence of his fly shot is in the sidebar to the right.➞
