Time Life will move imo feature films with<br />

LOVING COUPLES, starring Shirlej<br />

MacLaine and James Coburn in a comedy<br />

about a husband and wife involved in ex<br />

tramantal affairs. Shooting will begin July 30<br />

on a 10 week schedule on Southern California<br />

locations. Remee Valente is producing; Jack<br />

Smith will be the director. David Susskind will<br />

be executive producer.<br />

FREEZING DOWN will<br />

begin filming in<br />

November in Albany, N.Y., as an Arthur<br />

Cohn production. Melvin Sokolsky is the<br />

director. The plot concerns a man's return to<br />

life after a cyrogenic suspension. Paul<br />

Mayersberg has written the screenplay based<br />

on the novel by Anders Bodelson.<br />

THE SHILLINGSBURY BLOWERS, a<br />

story about the commotion resulting when a<br />

pop music star and his wife move into a small<br />

English village, is now shooting in Britain.<br />

Trevor Howard is starring; Val Guest is the<br />

director.<br />

SUDDEN GOLD will be produced for<br />

Universal by Moshe Mizrahi, who also plans<br />

to direct the $8 million project. Target date for<br />

completion is sometime in 1981.<br />

Walt Disney Productions plans to begin<br />

shooting late this month in London on A<br />

WATCHER IN THE WOODS. The super<br />

natural thriller will star Bette Davis as an older<br />

woman despondent over the disappearance of<br />

her daughter. John Hough will direct from the<br />

script by Brian Clemens, Rosemary Sisson and<br />

Gerry Day. Ron Miller will produce.<br />

LONGRIDERS, a film about the legendary<br />

James and Younger brothers, is set for an<br />

Aug. 10 starting date in Georgia Walter Hill<br />

will direct and some of Hollywood's most<br />

famous actor brothers will star. James Keach<br />

and Stacy Keach will star as Jesse James and<br />

Frank James, Keith Carradine and Robert<br />

Carradine will star as Cole Younger, Jim<br />

Younger and Bobby Younger, respectively,<br />

and Randy Quaid and Dennis Quaid will star<br />

as Clell and Ed Miller Stacy Keach and James<br />

Keach will also serve as executive producers.<br />

Shooting is under way in Montreal on PIN-<br />

BALL SUMMER, a comedy about senior<br />

high school students on the loose during the<br />

summer break.<br />

Paramount will make COAST TO<br />

COAST, starring Dyan Cannon as a Beverly<br />

Bills heiress who flees cross-country with a<br />

truck driver to foil her husband's attempt to<br />

have her declared insane. Steve Tisch and<br />

John Avnet will produce the film, described as<br />

being in the tradition of the classic comedies of<br />

the 1930s. Jeff Boam will write the revised<br />

screenplay based on the original script by<br />

Stanley Weiser and David O'Dell.<br />

Producer Pancho Kohner and Aurora Pro<br />

ductions will begin shooting in August in<br />

Spokane, Wash., on THE FABRICATOR, to<br />

SUZANNE, a $1,000,000 Canadian production<br />

of Robert Lantos and Stephen J Roth<br />

and their RSL Films company began filming<br />

July 3 in Montreal with Robert Spry directing<br />

from a script he wrote with Ronald<br />

Sutherland, based on the novel by Sutherland.<br />

Heading the allCanadian cast are Jennifer<br />

Dale, Gabriel Arcand. Michele Rossignol,<br />

Winston Rekert and Ken Pogue.<br />

Rastar Films is aiming for an October<br />

release through Columbia for its SKATE-<br />

TOWN, U.S.A., a comedy-musical featuring<br />

some of the top disco roller stars and music<br />

groups, including the Beach Boys. A $300,000<br />

set has been built at the Hollywood Palladium,<br />

turning that auditorium into a sound»slage<br />

Michael Nolin and Lorin Dreyfuss are the executive<br />

producers Nick Castle wrote the<br />

screenplay and William A. Levey is producing.<br />

HUNTER'S LAW is planned for filming<br />

on locations in Manhattan, NY., and Fort<br />

Lee, N.J.. by producer David Broadnax who<br />

also will star in the feature and will co write<br />

the screenplay with Emmett Murphy. The<br />

story will deal with a modern-day bounty<br />

hunter.<br />

Cathy Lee Crosby and her CLC Produc<br />

tions are developing NIGHTMARE, a<br />

thriller set in New York, in which she will star<br />

in the lead female role. Vrana wrote the<br />

original screenplay.<br />

Jerry Tokofsky, former vice president of<br />

production for Columbia Pictures, has signed<br />

a deal with Warner Bros, to develop THE<br />

GIRL THAT HE MARRIES, based on<br />

Rhoda Lerman's novel, an ironic story about a<br />

young woman who gets the man she wants<br />

and soon discovers that he wasn't the man she<br />

really wanted after all. Susan Silver will adapt<br />

the book to the screen, her first feature film<br />

writing job.<br />

Universal WHERE THE BUFFALO<br />

ROAM, starring Peter Boyle and Bill Murray,<br />

began principal photography July 5 at the<br />

studio. Art Linson will produce and direct<br />

from John Kaye's screenplay.<br />

Producer Zale Magder has set an Aug. 6<br />

start in Toronto on NEVER TRUST AN<br />

HONEST THIEF, a crime drama starring Or<br />

son Welles and Michael Murphy in roles as a<br />

small town sheriff and his deputy. George<br />

McGowan will direct from the script by Carl<br />

and Phyllis DeSantis.<br />

Rastar Films plans to begin production in<br />

spring<br />

1980 on COLETTE, based on the life<br />

of one of France's most popular writers. Jean-<br />

Claude Tramont will direct from the script being<br />

written by Emmy winner Carol Sobieski,<br />

who also wrote "Casey's Shadow."<br />

Rastar also has a spring 1 980 date penciled<br />

for production on GET A JOB for Columbia<br />

Pictures. Michael Nolin will produce, the<br />

original story by Richard Rothstein.<br />

Casablanca Record & FilmWorks began<br />

shooting July 9 in Pasadena on THE<br />

HOLLYWOOD KNIGHT, which has an<br />

eight-week schedule set on locations in the<br />

Hollywood area. Floyd Mutrux is directing<br />

the comedy about a car club from his original<br />

script. Richard Lederer is producing the Columbia<br />

release and William Tennant,<br />

Dirk Blocker, Amy Tennant and Patricia<br />

Alice Albrecht have co-starring roles in Walt<br />

Disney Productions' THE ALL NIGHT<br />

TREASURE HUNT. The three play students<br />

who compete in an elaborate clue game that<br />

be directed by Larry Pearce. Treat Williams<br />

will star in the screenplay of a contemporary<br />

love story-comedy written by Peter Stone<br />

from the novel by Hollis Hodges.<br />

orphan children in One Way Productions'<br />

OH, INCHON, starring Laurence Olivier and<br />

Jacqueline Bisset. The 9 to 15-year-old kids<br />

and Littler, orphans who attach themselves to<br />

Bisset as she flees from advancing Communist<br />

troops. The youngsters are members of the<br />

Little Angels of Korea choral group of 60<br />

children that presents concerts in the world's<br />

major cities.<br />

David Opatoshu has signed for a role in<br />

BEYOND EVIL, IFl/Scope III feature to<br />

begin shooting in August.<br />

Graham Jams has been cast in MIDDLE<br />

AGE CRAZY, which began shooting July 16<br />

in Houston. John Trent is directing for executive<br />

producers Sid and Marty Kroft.<br />

Ann Weldon has been signed for THE<br />

SERIAL, now shooting at Paramount<br />

Studios<br />

Marcia Rodd has joined the cast of<br />

THAT'S LIFE. Jerry Lewis is directing the<br />

film in Palm Aire, Fla.<br />

Randy Glass has a role in WHERE THE<br />

BUFFALO ROAM, being produced and<br />

directed by Art Linson.<br />

Susan Sarandon has signed to star in LOV-<br />

ING COUPLES, first film feature planned by<br />

Time Life. Shirley MacLaine and ,'ames<br />

Coburn are also starring.<br />

Don Henderson has signed for a role in<br />

Universal THE ISLAND.<br />

Lee Bryant and Loran Patterson have been<br />

cast in Paramount's AIRPLANE! Patterson<br />

plays a singing stewardess who serenades an<br />

ailing girl passenger.<br />

Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins will<br />

star in Columbia's THE BLUE LAGOON,<br />

which began shooting in the Fiji Islands on<br />

June 18. Randal Kleiser is directing the story<br />

about two children living alone in the South<br />

Pacific.<br />

Nancy Hazeltine. Janet Thomas. Jeanie<br />

Rap, Jan Wierenga and Virginia Logan have<br />

been signed for Lonmar Films'CARNY.being<br />

directed by Robert Kaylor in Savannah, Ga.<br />

Kate Reid has joined the cast of DEATH<br />

SHIP, Canadian-United Kingdom coproduction<br />

Australian Reg Evans has been signed for a<br />

Twin sisters Janet Thomas and Jeanie Rap<br />

Robert Forster has signed for a role in<br />

Ethel Merman, Jose Feliciano and Kareem-<br />

Abdul Jabbar have signed for roles in Paramount's<br />

AIRPLANE! Feliciano plays a blind<br />

pilot of a jet plane. Merman plays herself, and<br />

Jabbar plays himself masquerading as an<br />

airline co-pilot.<br />

Joey Foreman will portray Agent 13, Don<br />

Adams' ally in THE RETURN OF MAX-<br />
