Re: ARRANGEMENTS FOR BUS TRIP TO MARITZBURG COLLEGE: 17/18 MAY 2013
Dear Parents
King Edward VII School is undertaking a rugby, hockey and tennis trip to Maritzburg College from Friday 17 May to
Saturday 18 May 2013. We will be playing against Maritzburg College on Saturday 18 May 2013.
All boys are travelling by bus to Maritzburg. The boys will be allowed to return to Johannesburg with their parents
on Saturday, provided that a letter is handed in to the coach that states that the boy will not return by bus.
The Maritzburg parents will host our boys on the Friday evening. If you are going to Maritzburg and would wish
your son to stay with you, please inform me in writing by no later than Tuesday 14 May 2013 to enable me to inform
Maritzburg College.
The following information is important:
DRESS: Red School Tracksuit:
• Departure from Johannesburg;
• Arrival at Maritzburg;
• Arrival at Maritzburg College on match day;
• After matches.
Civilian clothes:
• At hosts on Friday evening.
ONLY IF A BOY DOES NOT HAVE A FULL TRACKSUIT WILL HE BE ALLOWED TO TRAVEL IN HIS FULL
SCHOOL UNIFORM.
Each day boy must provide his own packed lunch for Friday on the bus, but breakfast, lunch
and supper on Saturday will be provided by Maritzburg;
Boarders will get a packed lunch from the boarding houses;

Pocket money is essential;
The cost involved is R460-00 per player to be paid no later than Wednesday, 15 May 2013. It is
important that you pay as the School cannot foot the bill for such a trip. If you want to deposit the

ON FRIDAY MORNING ON ARRIVAL AT SCHOOL THE BOYS MUST PUT THEIR LUGGAGE
ON THE HOCKEY ASTRO. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REGISTER PERIOD THE BOYS CAN
COLLECT THEIR LUGGAGE FROM THE ASTRO AND MOVE TO THE BUSES.
BOARDERS WILL RECEIVE THEIR LUNCH PACKS FROM THE BOARDING HOUSES AT
THE BUSES.
We shall depart from the School in RED TRACKSUIT on Friday morning at 08:00 and arrive back at school on
Saturday evening at about 23:30.
IN EXTREME SITUATIONS, BOYS WHOSE PARENTS CANNOT COLLECT THEM ON SATURDAY EVENING,
WILL BE ALLOWED TO SLEEP IN THE BOARDING HOUSE. PLEASE PICK YOUR SON UP BEFORE 08:00
ON SUNDAY MORNING.
We aim to make this trip an unforgettable outing for the boys, but we should not forget that it is also an exercise in
promoting the School. Therefore we expect the boys to behave like true King Edward VII scholars and be good
ambassadors for the School. All Codes of Conduct will be applicable for this tour!
Please make sure that you have FULLY completed an Indemnity Form and Medical Form as we need your
permission for your son to accompany us on this tour. It will be of great assistance if you could attach a copy of
your medical aid card. These forms must be handed in to the coaches on or before Wednesday 15 May 2013.
PLEASE do not fax or e-mail these forms as we do not have the time to print all these documents.
