King Edward VII School Shop2013 BACK TO SCHOOL Stationery, Clothing and Book InformationPLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLYThe shop closes at 12p.m. on Saturday 1 st December 2012 and reopens on Thursday 3 rdJanuary at 12p.m. for grade 8 learners and new boys only. All other learners arewelcome at the School Shop on Friday 4 th / Saturday 5 th / Monday 7 th and Tuesday 8 th .In 2012 we attempted to prevent long queues by being open extra days and scheduling different days for differentgrades – unfortunately this was not successful. Not only were stipulated days for grades ignored but we wereinundated by parents on Wednesday 12 th and Friday 14 th and had very few parents on Thursday 13 th andSaturday 15 th . Subsequently some parents queued for 15 minutes only whilst others waited hours. So please be aware that whilst we welcome and encourage your business, luck plays a big part with regards thelength of the queues and sometimes the “early worm” may have to wait longer than he who is lucky enough to popin when the shop is quiet. We have no idea when parents will come to the shop so cannot advise you as to whenwill be the quietest time.It is advisable to bring at least one person with you if you intend to buy clothing and collect text books or buyKES books and stationery, as clothing is sold in the Shop and stationery and book sales/collection in the Theatre. There is a separate queue for Book Collections as receipts need to be collected/payments verified at a particularpoint and no other sales person will have access to these files. This step has become necessary because of the lackor receipts being brought to the shop – forgotten or lost at home and payments queried. To help speed up the queues we appeal to you to do the stationery and clothing purchases in 2012 if possible. However, pre-ordered books can only be collected in 2013. Boys are encouraged to collect their books themselvesfrom 9 th January, after the end of the school day.School shop prices are (generally) lower than retail suppliers. On a recent check, ALL the shop stationery prices werelower than a well known hyper store – some substantially so! Please appreciate that for a limited period at the end/beginning of the year, some large stores may offer certain popular items at a low discounted price. The School shopcannot compete with these prices – but these “back to school” prices are only for a limited time (generally 2 weeks) andalso for very few items whilst they catch you unawares with all the other items at the normal high prices. The choice isyours – one stop shopping at KES Shop (whilst supporting the School) or queuing in a number of different stores. In order to keep costs as low as possible the School shop relies on help from parents.HELP IS NEEDED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR BUT PARTICULARLY DURING NOV AND JAN. –Anyone who wouldlike to volunteer to help should please phone (011-551-5800) and chat to Rosemarie or Antonella.Shop PurchasesClothing purchases School shop From 17 th November to 1 st Dec 2012Stationery purchases Hugh Wilson Theatre From 17 th November to 1 st Dec 2012Stationery purchasesKESbooks purchases andTextbook collectionsHugh Wilson Theatre3 rd Jan after 12 – gr8 and new boys4 th to 8 th Jan - All learners – includinggr 8 and new boysShop Hours - Closed on SundaysSaturdays 2012 17 th , 24 th Nov/ 1 st Dec 9 to 1 All learnersWeekdays 2012 19 th to 23 rd10 to 1 (after Exams) All learnersNovember26 th to 30thJanuary 20133 rd ThursdayFrom 12 to 44 th Friday9 to 45 th Sat 7 th Mon 8 th Tues 9 to 2All learnersSchool reopens on WedWed / Thurs/ Friday 9 th 10 th and 11 th JanBreak and after school1 to 3.30Saturday From 12 th Jan CLOSED2013Grade 8 and new boysAll learnersAll learnersSchool shop reverts to normal trading hours from14th January: Parents are not allowed to be in the schoolbuilding during school hours – After school please access the School shop from the tarmac at the Astro turfand NOT through reception or the Remembrance (rose) garden.Parents: Monday to Friday – AFTER SCHOOL ONLY from end of school day plus one hour – these timeswill be strictly adhered to.
