Client expects to see a decision in mid April 2012 on its feedstock allocation for the project.<br />

Client is still waiting for a decision from <strong>Saudi</strong> Aramco Total Refining & Petrochemical<br />

Company (Satorp) on the feed stock allocation. If it goes ahead the plant will receive a<br />

paraxylene feedstock allocation from Satorp, the <strong>Saudi</strong> joint venture with Frances Total.<br />

US Nexant is carrying out feasibility study for the plant and is nearing completion. If<br />

Qurain is appointed to develop the PET plant, it could appoint a project management<br />

consultant (PMC) by middle of 2012, and will begin looking for technology partner before<br />

launching the EPC tenders.<br />

It is understood that tendering and bidding process for the feasibility study and front-end<br />

engineering and design (FEED) contract is expected to be launched in the first quarter of<br />

2012. A project management consultant (PMC) is expected to be selected and announced in<br />

the second quarter of 2012 (there will be no tendering and bidding process). Tendering and<br />

bidding process for EPC contract is expected to commence soon after, with an award is<br />

anticipated by end of the second quarter of 2012. Construction of plant is expected to<br />

commence in the third quarter of 2012, while the project completion is anticipated in the first<br />

quarter of 2015.<br />

This project is in <strong>Saudi</strong> <strong>Arabia</strong>. The complex will receive paraxylene feedstock from a local<br />

refinery, producing 1 million tonnes a year (t/y) of purified terephthalic acid (PTA), 800,000<br />

t/y of PET as well as other downstream products. Some of the PTA will be offered to local<br />

markets, while the majority will be converted to PET resin. This complex will support the<br />

downstream conversion industry in <strong>Saudi</strong> <strong>Arabia</strong> in the production of bottle pre-forms, sheet
