Spelling Continuum
This is a listing of skills within a developmental stage; however, within each
stage, skills may be taught according to the teacher’s professional judgment. For
example, “other long vowel sounds” might be taught later in the “Within-Word
It is recommended that teachers build in ongoing, cumulative reviews for
students at natural breaks in their developmental learning.
Grade level lines indicate mastery levels for the end of each grade. The
mastery levels based on the Nevada English Language Arts Content
Standards (February 21, 2003 Edition)
