VISITATION MISSION STATEMENT
Visitation Parish, a Roman Catholic Community in the Diocese of Joliet-in-Illinois, seeks to draw all to Jesus Christ, revelation
of the Father and font of the Holy Spirit, by celebrating the Sacraments, educating people of all ages in the Truths of the
Catholic Faith, and reaching out to those who are physically, emotionally or spiritually in need.

Visits to the Sick
Call or stop in the Rectory Office to register as a member of Visitation Parish.
Every Sunday at 1:30 P.M. Parents are required to take a Baptism Preparation Class beforehand.
Classes are held every other month, so please plan ahead. Call Rectory for information.
Arrangements must be made at the Rectory at least six months in advance. Catholic parties must
obtain a NEWLY issued certificate of their Baptism and then contact the Rectory before making any
other arrangements. Weddings scheduled at 12:00 or 2:00 P.M. on Saturday. NO Sunday Weddings.
It is the responsibility of the parish to bury their dead. The funeral director will contact the parish
regarding arrangements. No specific offering is required for the parish in connection with the
funeral liturgy.
The Perpetual Adoration Chapel of Our Lady, Mother of the Eucharist, is available 24 hours a day for private
prayer and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, exposed on the Altar. The Chapel is located in the
Convent building (south of the church).
Devotions in honor of Saint Peregrine, the patron saint of those who suffer with cancer will be held
the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 P.M. in the church.
Due to changes in hospital admitting policies, it is necessary to inform the Rectory when hospitalized
parishioners would like a visit from a priest or deacon. Catholic chaplains are assigned to area
hospitals to administer the Sacraments. Visitation parish priests visit Elmhurst Hospital twice a
week on Tuesdays and Fridays.

PARISH BUSINESS
Sacred Heart of Jesus Celebrations
On February 23, 2012, Bishop R. Daniel Conlon consecrated the
Diocese of Joliet Catholic Schools to the Sacred Heart of Jesus during the
Holy Mass at the Cathedral of St. Raymond in Joliet. This special celebration
was part of a program called “Perfect Friendship: the Sacred Heart
Project” that Father John Belmonte, S.J., Superintendent of the Diocese
of Joliet Catholic Schools initiated in the Fall of 2011 for all of the Joliet
Diocese Catholic Schools.
Throughout the school year, the Visitation students learned about the
Sacred Heart of Jesus devotion and Jesus’ everlasting love and mercy for
each one of us. As a celebratory conclusion to this school year, Father
Scott Huggins enthroned Visitation Catholic School to the Sacred Heart
of Jesus at an all school Mass on April 20, 2012.
And now, you will have the blessed opportunity to enthrone the Sacred
Heart of Jesus as “King of Your Home and Family.” Friday, June 15, is
the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On this special day, two Masses, 6:15 A.M. and 8:15 A.M. will be celebrating this feast
day. After each of these Masses, our priests will bless Sacred Heart of Jesus images and statues that the congregation brings
with them and that will be used for Home Enthronement. This blessing will occur in church.
Images and statues will also be blessed shortly following the Saturday, June 16, 5:00 P.M. Mass (around 6:00 P.M.) and
shortly after the Sunday, June 17, 10:00 A.M. Mass (around 11:00 A.M.) in the Fireside Room in the Parish Center. The Home
Enthronement Certificates and information about the Sacred Heart Devotion will be available in the church.
As the Sacred Heart of Jesus revealed to Sister Mary Margaret Alacoque in 1673, enthroning Jesus as “King of Our
Home” will bring countless graces and blessings to us and our family. Enthroning the Sacred Heart of Jesus as “King of Our
Homes” will remind us of Whom we should be serving in our daily lives. It also will bring much peace and happiness to our
lives and our families’ lives, our parish community and the world in which we live. Jesus loves YOU more than you could
ever imagine. Bring your heart to His Sacred Heart and enthrone Him as your King! You will see what a positive difference
this will make for you and your loved ones.

MANNA
Visitation Tuition Assistance Program
This past week 37 Visitation Grade School and other organization
program families purchased $12,557 in gift certificates
through our MANNA program. The earned tuition credit
for the past week was $557.
We thank all our participants and remind so many other
families who are not a part of our program that all Visitation
parishioners can take advantage of the earned credit for
another school family to help the school, or simply to assist
the Capital Campaign.
A few have asked how the program works. Our program is
so easy to use and takes so little effort to stop in at one of the
twice weekly Walk–in Services to make your selections from
over 275 stores and restaurants. As a simple example, the discount
rate on Jewel or Dominick’s gift certificates is 4%. For
every $100 purchased MANNA pays the supplier $96 and
you get the $4 difference in the form of earned credit to use
for yourself, another family or to support the school. Our discounts
range from 2% to 50%. When you shop at participating
stores, you use the certificates as you would use cash. And
remember, the gift certificates sold by our program are the
exact same certificates you could purchase at the stores and
may be used at any of the chains within the U.S. MANNA
earned credit is now being accumulated toward the next
school year.

Today at the noon Mass with Bishop Conlon the Choir will be singing several classic choral works of our Catholic faith in
Latin. The first is Ave Verum Corpus (Hail True Body) by Mozart. This piece was written especially for the Feast of Corpus
Christi in 1791. Then at offertory we will sing the Panis Angelicus (Bread of Angels) of Cesar Franck with Dylan Rehm, tenor
soloist and the Ave Maria (Hail Mary) of Franz Schubert with Jackie Salgado, soloist. The translations of these master works

The Classified Section
Many of our parishioners are affected by unemployment. Visitation’s “Classified Section” is a response to aid in networking
within the parish community. This section lists people who need jobs by advertising only information pertinent to work.
Those who need work may contact Deacon Tony at the Rectory and send him their resumes. We will keep them confidential
and publicize the skill sets anonymously. Our hope is that potential employers or friends of potential employers within this
parish may be able to help. If an employer contacts the parish office, Deacon Tony will act as the liaison for them. A more
extensive list and more information and resources are now available via our website.

CCW has been a busy bee this spring...
Our annual Installation Mass and Luncheon on May 8 was a wonderful day bringing together past Presidents, our new
board members and CCW members. This very special annual event dates back to 1957. Thank you to Margaret Hohman,
Colleen Muno, Lisa Spedale, Germaine Yang and Rita Nemeth for making the day shine.
Special thanks to Jen Baxa and Allison Manger who brought together our RE and SPRED catechists and RE advisors for
our Annual Appreciation Dinner in Podesta Hall. CCW thanks our Catechists for your time given to the Religious Education
Program. Visitation is blessed to have you working with the children of the parish.
Visitation School’s 8 th graders and their families enjoyed a final day together at the 8 th Grade Mass and Breakfast on May
29. Thank you to Susan Haeflinger and Margaret Hohman and all the volunteers that transformed the school gym into a breakfast
nook! The class video was produced by Cathy Mulligan and Rob Milkowski along with numerous other parents—thank
you for all your hard work! It was a great memory for the graduates.
Visitation School families donated gently used school supplies to School Count Corporation. Special thanks to the hard
work of Elizabeth Kosowski and Carolyn Prabhu for organizing. The school supplies will be sorted and given to schools in
the Chicago area.

Seeking a renewal of your faith,
a deeper relationship with Christ
and the support of small group sharing
The Catholic Cursillo is the Answer!
Cursillo, which means “short course in Christianity,” is a
lay Catholic Movement which began 60 years ago in Spain
and is now worldwide. It begins with a 72 hour, three day
weekend where candidates form and live in community
with other Catholics and clergy members. The weekend is
immersed in Catholic Doctrine and the Sacraments. The
first night is a silent retreat and the rest of the weekend
includes daily Mass, prayer, rosary, adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament and 15 apostolic talks given by laity and clergy.
Candidates take part in small discussion groups following
each talk. The Sacrament of Reconciliation as well as spiritual
direction is available on the weekend.

Catholic Charities Seeks Donations for
Low-Income Clients in DuPage County
Catholic Charities is seeking donations of toilet paper,
paper towels, soap, toothpaste, shampoo, cleaning supplies
(Windex, toilet bowl cleaner, all-purpose cleaner) bug repellent
and sun block for their low income and homeless clients.

Brian E. Wagner Scholarship
Awarded to Three Inaugural Recipients
The Brian E. Wagner Scholarship Fund (BEWSF) raised $8,000
during their premier fundraiser of the year. The 1 st Annual Brian
Wagner Golf Outing welcomed 66 golfers during a beautiful spring
afternoon at the Bloomingdale Golf Club. The evening commenced
with a dinner reception and a silent auction.
BEWSF President Peter Zamar announced the three inaugural
scholarship recipients which included: Kristen Borel (York High
School and Visitation 2008 Alumnus), Dan Vatch (Immaculate
Conception High School) and Brooke Wagner, no relation to Brian
Wagner and family (Timothy Christian High School and Visitation 2008 Alumnus).
Each received $2,500 toward tuition for their first semesters in college this fall.
