What a year 2011 turned out to be!!
There cannot be many that will be sad to
see it gone!!
With the Scrumpy now into eight years,
this will be a very sparse January for
gigs going by the lack of, that we have
received!
Most venues will be looking back to
January 2011, then taking into account
the business they did that month and
then what they did over the year. So
with the lack of gigs, a lot of venues
have decided to cut back or not bother,
and who can blame them
The truth is there are not that many
areas of life that have not been effected
by this economic climate, in some form
or other it is effecting all of us. The good
thing is that human beings are resourceful
and adaptable, though it can
take some longer to adapt than others.
Will the economic climate be another
nail in the coffin for live music No, I am
convinced it will adapt, and change to
the climate, so support where you can
and enjoy.............

putting up with the combined racket of violin

IT’S PLAN B FOR
SWANS IN FLIGHT
One of the UK’s hottest current songwriting
teams, (famed for their work
with chart sensation, Plan B, and including
Ivor Novello Award winning,
Cassell, AKA ‘The BeatMaker’), have
confirmed they will be producing the
British rock band, ‘Swans In Flight’, and
their forth coming release due out
Spring 2012. In the producers chair at
John Delf’s, ‘Edge Studios’, Cassell will
be joined by Guild Award winning fellow
Plan B member, Eric Appapoulay.
“I recently got the chance to hear the
song, “123”, taken from the Swans In
Flight’s self penned ‘acoustic’ album
and liked what I heard. I shared it with
the rest of my Sony Publishing/Plan B
songwriting team and we all agreed this
was something we really wanted to do.
I’m excited to be involved with this
band,” states Cassell who is also a
member of, “The Streets”.
Swans In Flight’s studio alliance with
Cassell and the Plan B team is set to
produce a fascinating amalgam of
styles and textures which will draw on

Swan, revealed that both he and Cassell
share a common love for melody,
“Above all, everyone loves a good tune

and I and all the guys involved in
this project, will be going for the song
everytime......”

booked to perform main stage festival
performances for 2012 plus a select
number of theatre shows next March

Thank God for real life characters! And
people that have passion and care........
Steve Darrington arrived in Swanage for
a 2 day stay - and never left!! For those
that have never been, Swanage is a
delightful seaside town in Dorset on the
south coast of England, not far from
Poole and Bournemouth, with a picturesque
bay, an award winning beach,
with a nice climate when the weathers
fine! Steve started the Swanage Blues
in 2001 originally as a birthday party
and it has since developed over the
years into the biggest blues party on the
south coast! Lucky for music lovers
living in the area, the music events for a
small resort are many. Now Steve
organise’s two blues festivals which
take place in March and October. There
are 60 gigs of acoustic and electric

blues based music in 20 indoor venues,
admission is FREE to customers of the
various pubs, restaurants and hotel
bars that host the live music. People
attending the events will be asked to
contribute (donate generously) towards
the festival by the collection team of
volunteers, known as The Bucketeers!
Considering this is a FREE festival with
over 60 gigs, but no major sponsor and
organised by one man in a wheelchair -
that’s incredible, but to make it happen
in the worst recession the country has
