MPhil/PhD<br />
<strong>Postgraduate</strong>s studying research degrees in<br />
Economics are welcomed into a rich research<br />
environment and encouraged to participate<br />
in the staff/postgraduate seminar programme<br />
during term-time. Weekly seminars are<br />
given by visiting academics and there is a<br />
regular workshop programme at which staff<br />
present their own research and discuss new<br />
developments in theory and technique.<br />
Research students periodically present<br />
seminars describing their own research, giving<br />
them the opportunity to receive feedback from<br />
their peers and academic staff and may have<br />
the opportunity to contribute to one <strong>of</strong> the<br />
School’s Working Paper series.<br />

FEELE: Finance and Economics<br />
Experimental Laboratory at E<strong>xeter</strong><br />
This laboratory has been set up with funding<br />
from the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> E<strong>xeter</strong> and additional<br />
support from the ESRC and the British<br />
Academy, to conduct experiments in finance<br />
and economics.<br />

MSc Economics<br />
This is the most general <strong>of</strong> our economics<br />
programmes and it <strong>of</strong>fers the greatest<br />
flexibility. You will acquire pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
training in mainstream economics, including<br />
analytical techniques as well as subject-specific<br />
knowledge. It gives rigorous training in the<br />
techniques <strong>of</strong> economic analysis, built around<br />
a core set <strong>of</strong> modules in macroeconomics,<br />
microeconomics, quantitative methods and<br />
research techniques.<br />

MSc Economics and Econometrics<br />
This MSc degree mirrors the MSc Economics<br />
programme, but contains an additional<br />
compulsory module in Advanced Econometrics<br />
and reflects the specialism in the degree title.<br />
The programme provides a solid foundation in<br />
economics, together with advanced teaching<br />
in econometrics, and is ideal for anyone<br />
wanting a career involving econometrics or<br />
economic research.<br />

MSc Economics and<br />
Experimental Economics<br />
Mirroring the MSc Economics programme, but<br />
containing an additional compulsory module<br />
in Experimental Economics and Finance,<br />
the programme draws upon our expertise in<br />
the development, running and evaluation <strong>of</strong><br />
experiments applied to economics and financial<br />
issues.<br />

MSc Financial Economics<br />
This programme is a springboard into a<br />
career as an economist or anybody who sees<br />
his or her future as an analyst for a major<br />
investment company. Designed to provide<br />
an understanding <strong>of</strong> economic and financial<br />
theory, together with specialist econometric<br />
and mathematical techniques, this MSc <strong>of</strong>fers<br />
compulsory modules in financial theory, plus<br />
a choice <strong>of</strong> further options in finance,<br />
economics or econometrics.<br />

money markets. Offered jointly by the<br />
Department <strong>of</strong> Economics and the Xfi Centre<br />
for Finance and Investment, it is designed for<br />
