practises; extractive industries; market gardens; road through DEC land (access problems) and infiltration
of seawater
Comments: Not in Leschenault catchment, but in Peel-Harvey; private landholders; long lake; DEC owns
foreshore’ Ramsar-listed; saltwater lake (8x seawater levels); lots of birdlife, some remnant vegetation,
water levels are dropping; outside of catchment but included as an asset. Microbial mats are key asset.

Identified threats:Dieback and other pathogens; fire; loss/degradation of vegetation remnants that are
source of seeds and lack of funding/loss of site
Comments: Only place that local provenance seedlings can be bought for the Leschenault Catchment;
also doing research into growing of native orchids; only organisation that grow a large variety of native
wetland species for rehab projects; major supporter for their land tenure is DoW, who will longer deal in
NRM; relies on volunteers and is a not for profit organisation.
