A visit to the hospital can be an emotional rollercoaster for patients and their loved ones. Here, Dr. Brian Goldman
checks patient Evelyn Capobianco as her husband, Foster, stands by. She is one of the 40,000 patients who came to
the Schwartz-Reisman Emergency Centre this year. Evelyn, a diabetic, has gangrene in several of her toes, and is getting
the news of her treatment from Dr. Goldman. When medical emergencies happen, our strong professional team is
equipped to treat myriad injuries and illness afflicting everyone from infants to seniors.
Julia Tran, RN, cares for patient Arthur
Turrill in the 17 South General Medicine
Step-down Unit. Mount Sinai has a
multi-disciplinary team of more than
1,200 nurses who look after a wide
range of patients with an equally
diverse set of illnesses.
Pathology and Laboratory Medicine,
headed by Dr. Kenneth Pritzker, is a vital
resource in diagnosis and learning, and
it’s one of the busiest in the country.
Laboratory staff and researchers help
our clinical teams deliver better care to
patients, and help advance medical
understanding for the future.
