OUR DONORS: BUILDING A COMMUNITY OF CARE
“My name is Devorah Kaufman. I’m in grade 4. My teacher assigned us
a project called Project GiveBack. Each girl was to choose her own
charity. I chose Mount Sinai Hospital … Enclosed please find a
cheque for $60.” Devorah Kaufman, budding philanthropist
Daniel and Leonard Drimmer
When Daniel and Leonard Drimmer made their
leadership gift to Mount Sinai, they wanted to
touch as many people as possible. The opportunity
to improve the lives of patients is extremely
rewarding, the brothers say, but what these firsttime
Mount Sinai donors found most unexpected
was the heartfelt appreciation staff expressed,
immediately and graciously recognizing the
impact of their gift on the community.
Kwok Yuen Ho
It was a brief encounter with Mount Sinai
rheumatologist Dr. Peter Lee that led businessman
KY Ho to pledge a remarkable $600,000 first-time
gift. Understanding that technology has the
power to improve a patient’s quality of life, KY
felt passionate about easing the pain of arthritis.
“If I can help minimize the suffering of others,”
he says, “it’s the right thing to do.”
