School starts in Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools on Wednesday, September 4 for a full day.
Exceptions are noted below:
• Cedar Community Secondary – 9 a.m.
start for Grades 9 - 12 with dismissal at
12 noon; 12:30 p.m. start for Grade 8
with dismissal at 3:30 p.m.
• Dover Bay Secondary – 8:30 a.m. start
for Grades 9 - 12 with dismissal at
11:30 a.m.; 12:10 p.m. start for Grade 8
with 3 p.m. dismissal.
• John Barsby Community Secondary –
8:30 a.m. start for Grades 9 - 12 with
dismissal at 11 a.m.; 11:45 a.m. start for
Grade 8 with dismissal at 3 p.m.
• Ladysmith Secondary – 8:30 a.m. start
for Grades 9 - 12 with dismissal at
12 noon; 11 a.m. start for Grade 8 with
dismissal at 3 p.m.
• NDSS – 8:35 a.m. start for Grades 9 -
12 with dismissal at 11:35 a.m.; 12:15
p.m. start for Grade 8 with dismissal

• Wellington Secondary – 9:30 a.m.

School Start-up
Students not previously registered are
asked to register with the school of
attendance as soon as possible. The
start-up process takes some time and
classes may not be finalized until several
days after the start of the term. Schools
appreciate parents’ and students’ understanding
and cooperation.

Parents of new students in need of special
help should register at their neighbourhood
school. Support services will be arranged in
consultation with the Department of Learning
Services.
Parents of new English as a Second
Language students should register at their
neighbourhood school.
