An important crankbait that should be included<br />
in every bass angler’s arsenal is a<br />
lipless crank. Like the squarebill the lipless<br />
crank is another versatile lure in a sense that<br />
it can be fished at any depth that the angler<br />
chooses. While this type of crank may not<br />
have a bill it has the similar action of most<br />
other crankbaits but with a tighter, more active<br />
side to side wobble.<br />
Lipless cranks tend to come into play during<br />
the cold fall months when water temperatures<br />
drop and the warm summer air<br />
is replaced with the cool breeze of fall. Fall<br />
fish will go to great measures to nab an extra<br />
meal to stock up before the winter freeze<br />
and the lipless crank is just the bait to throw<br />
when big fall bass are on the prowl. Since<br />
lipless cranks have no bill the angler can<br />
control the depth in which they believe the<br />
fish are biting thus making the lipless crank<br />
a deep and shallow water bass weapon.
