beginning of freedom movement.
2. When and why was the Indian National Congress formed
Ans. The resentment against British Raj in the Indian society led to the birth
of Indian National Congress. It was formed in 1885 by a retired civil
servant A.O.Hume with the help of educated Indians.
3. What was the 'Divide and Rule' policy of the British
Ans. According to divide and rule policy, British aimed at dividing Indians
into two communal groups of Hindus and Muslims. They used it to
weaken the United Indians and freedom movement.
