Yamaha musIC PRODuCtIOn GuIDe 06|2011 DtX-wORkshOP: DtX700/900 & GROOve aGent One I‘m continuing my series of workshops in which I combine different drum plug-ins with DTX drum-kits. Today‘s topic: The “Groove Agent One” which is integrated in Steinberg‘s Cubase 6. The installation of Cubase 6 proceeded smoothly and the extensions for the DTX700 & DTX900 were also detected immediately. These extensions are needed for Cubase to detect the DTX drum trigger modules. The extension for your device can be downloaded from http://de.yamaha.com/de/support/ Click on „Downloads“ and enter the model of your instrument (eg DTX700). Of course I‘m working again with the components I have also been used in the previous episodes of this workshop: • Macbook Pro • Steinberg Interface CI2+ • Steinberg Cubase 6 • DTX700 & DTX900 • Extensions 700er & 900er Modul (free download from Yamaha) EUROPE.YAMAHA.COM TIP: Cubase 6 requires a USB dongle. Many laptops only feature one or two USB interfaces, for instance like my Macbook. Therefore I use an USB hub with four connectors. settInG uP the DtX700 Because USB-MIDI is going to be used (USB TO HOST), the appropriate settings have to be made in the DTX700: uSB MiDi – SeTTingS: • Button [Menu] • Select UTILITY with the dial open the menu by pressing the dial • Select and open MIDI (turn and press the dial) • Set „MIDI In/Out“ to „USB“ • Press [Store] and confirm SeleCTing The geneRAl- MiDi-DRuM-KiT: • Button [Kit] • Select Kit No. 50 (GM Kit) by turning the dial settInG uP the DtX900 uSB MiDi-SeTTingS: • Button [Utility] • Button [F5] MIDI • Button[SF3] Other • Set „MIDI In/Out“ to „USB“ • Press [Enter/Store] and confirm SeleCTing gM-DRuM-KiT: • Button [Drum Kit] • Select Kit Nr. 50 „GM Kit“ 13 Now the Steinberg interface and the DTX700 or the DTX900 can be connected to the computer.
