A Touch of Class • Summer 2009 Chris '99 & Donna (Delia) Peterein '00 Hit the Road in Style C hris '99 and Donna (Delia) Peterein '00 with their daughter, Lucy, as featured in an 8/02/09 article in the St. Louis Post Dispatch, “Homemade Teardrop Trailer Puts Family on the Road to Budget Vacations.” Chris built his own teardrop camper to cut costs for family vacation. Outman had a 4-1 record and 3.48 ERA in 14 appearances, including 12 starts before he was sidelined by the surgery. Recovery from this surgery usually runs 12 to 18 months for pitchers so Outman may miss part of the '10-’'11 season as well. From the South County Times, 7-27-09 article by Kevin Murphy ob Gaus '79, a teaching professional out of Tower Tee Golf Cen- B ter in Affton, competed at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa in July for a spot in the 89 th PGA Championship. Gaus, age 46, qualified for the PGA Championship, one of golf's four majors, by finishing in the top 20 at the 40th PGA Professional National Championship held June 21-24 at Crosswater Golf Club in Sunriver, Ore. A Touch of Class • Summer 2009 Bob Gaus '79 Competes in Fourth PGA Championship Gaus was a first-team NCAA Division II All-American at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. He turned professional in 1983 and played on the former Nike Tour from 1996-98 — making seven cuts in 10 events. He played full time on the Buy-com tour in 2001. Gaus has won just about every local tournament there is to win. He has been named the Gateway PGA "Player of the Year" four times, and is working toward a fifth honor for 2007. He was a member of the 1998 U.S. PGA Cup Team, posting a 3-0-1 record. In 1998, he finished second in the National Club Pro tournament played at Pinehurst, and in 2004 he was the winner of the Assistant Pro Championship. Chris Marziotti Tennis Scholarship Increased T he Chris Marziotti Tennis Scholarship was established in 1985 to honor the memory of Chris, a Lindbergh graduate from the class of 1979, who died June, 1985 of leukemia; that disease having been diagnosed in September, 1982 while Chris was an engineering student at Tulane University. While at Lindbergh, Chris was a four-year Varsity Tennis player and was the most valuable tennis player on the team in his senior year. Chris and his doubles partner went to state in both his junior and senior years. The annual award was to be given to an outstanding college-bound senior tennis player on either the boys’ or girls’ tennis team, the winner to be selected by the tennis coaches. The first award, a cash grant of $500 was made to Kimberly Jacobs in 1987. The cash award continued to be $500 through 2002, but in 2003, it was raised to $750 and in 2006 to $1,000. The Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that beginning with the May, 2010 presentation, two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. The recipients will be college-bound senior tennis players, one from each of the boys’ and girls’ Varsity Tennis Teams at Lindbergh High School. This doubling of the award has been made possible by the generosity of private donors to the fund since its inception in 1985.
