Home Energy Advisor software<br />
program<br />
The Home Energy Advisor is a free,<br />
easy-to-use estimate of a home’s<br />
annual energy use and costeffective<br />
energy improvements. It<br />
can be found through the ENERGY<br />
STAR website, www.energystar.gov or directly<br />
at http://advisor.lbl.gov. The user enters the<br />
location of the home by zip code and information<br />
such as year the home was built, size,<br />
number of occupants, orientation and amount of<br />
glazing, and type of mechanical equipment and<br />
appliances. If available, the homeowners’ utility<br />
bills can be entered as well to provide a more<br />
accurate snapshot. The Advisor also shows a<br />
comparison of the modeled home with a typical<br />
home in the area and an energy efficient home,<br />
allowing the user to see where the home falls in<br />
relation to others.<br />
