This is the introductory module for<br />
a much larger course or program<br />
designed to prepare remodelers to<br />
incorporate energy efficiency<br />
concepts into remodeling projects.<br />
The overall goal of the course is to<br />
provide remodeling contractors with<br />
expertise in energy efficiency so<br />
that they can incorporate energysaving<br />
features into almost any<br />
project. By understanding cost effective<br />
measures that enhance existing home performance,<br />
a remodeler can offer customers extra<br />
value. In addition to meeting a customer’s<br />
needs for remodeling such as more space,<br />
updating, etc., energy improvements can add<br />
increased comfort, reduced maintenance, better<br />
indoor air quality, and lower monthly utility bills.<br />
ACTION ITEMS<br />
Someone enrolling in this program<br />
and meeting its requirements will<br />
be eligible for certification as an<br />
energy efficient remodeler. The<br />
steps toward certification are yet to<br />
be finalized, but will likely include<br />
learning the concepts in the modules, taking<br />
and passing an exam, and verifying that the<br />
concepts are being implemented on an ongoing<br />
