Archaeologists at the University of Winchester have established an important new
heritage education initiative within North Cornwall. Dr Niall Finneran, Lecturer
in Archaeology, is currently leading a detailed study of early medieval sites in 10
parishes between Tintagel on the coast and the northern end of Bodmin Moor. The
Slaughterbridge site is close to Tintagel and has links to King Arthur.
“The discovery of a 13th century settlement in the region has put the site on the
archaeological map,” explained Dr Finneran. “We are aiming to build a resource
centre which will reach a wide variety of people, providing a study centre and
museum, as well as food and accommodation for volunteers.
