GREEN ACCREDITATION PROJECT<br />
PARTNER Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve Network<br />
LOCATION Ontario, Canada<br />
With support from <strong>Transat</strong>, the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve Network has<br />
implemented an ambitious green accreditation project targeting tourism industry<br />
stakeholders in its territory. Some 50 partners and about 20 agencies and<br />
organizations are pooling their efforts to reconcile economic development<br />
and natural heritage conservation.<br />
HISTORICAL HERITAGE DEVELOPMENT<br />
PARTNER La Seigneurie des Aulnaies LOCATION Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies, Canada<br />
Considered to be the most complete interpretation centre of the seigneurial system<br />
in Canada, the Seigneurie des Aulnaies has received <strong>Transat</strong> funding to implement<br />
a five-year plan to protect and develop its historic buildings. The Seigneurie is the<br />
main historic site and a major employer in its region.<br />
TRANSAT SUPPORTS COLEGIO<br />
LA ISABELA, A PRIMARY SCHOOL<br />
IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC<br />

NEARLY 1,000 COMPUTERS FIND THEIR WAY<br />
TO CLASSROOMS INSTEAD OF TRASH HEAPS<br />
LOCATION San Salvador, El Salvador<br />
<strong>Transat</strong> donated 220 computers to schools in El Salvador via a humanitarian initiative<br />
called Computers for All. In Canada, about 400 computers were given to the Quebec<br />
branch of the Computers for Schools organization. We have also sent more than<br />
350 computers to the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba. Every year, more than<br />
50 million tonnes of electronic waste are produced around the world.<br />
In March <strong>2008</strong>, an Air <strong>Transat</strong> plane<br />
took off for the Dominican Republic,<br />
carrying schoolbooks, computers,<br />
medical supplies and theatre costumes;<br />
the goods were collected by a group<br />
of Canadians wishing to lend their<br />
support to the children of Colegio<br />
La Isabela. Some 2.5 tonnes of<br />
materials were transported as part<br />
of similar projects in <strong>2008</strong>.
