2012/2013 trial site location map
Balfour (Feed Wheat)

Soil: Kaweku silt loam, Dryland
Following peas, this trial was sown on 23 April
2012 surrounded by a crop of Einstein. The
trial received four fungicides, three herbicides
and a total of 250 kg N/ha was applied over
three split applications. There was a moderate
infestation of brome. The trial was harvested on
27 February 2013.
Bulls (Feed and Milling Wheat)

Soil: Rangitikei silt loam, Dryland
This site was sown in a surrounding crop of
Einstein on 1st June 2012 in a Rangitikei silt
loam following maize. A total of 213 kg N/ha
was applied over three split applications. The
trial received one herbicide and two fungicide
applications between September and November.
The trial was harvested on 27 January 2013.
Chertsey (March and April Feed Wheat)

Soil: Chertsey shallow silt loam, Dryland
and Irrigated
The March (21-03-2012) and April (20-04-2012)
sown trials were drilled at the FAR Arable Site
following peas. Each trial received a total of
310 kg N/ha applied over three timings. The
March sown trial received three herbicides,
three fungicides, a PGR, two insecticides and
an application of slug bait. The April sown trial
also received three herbicides, three fungicides,
and a PGR but only received one insecticide. A
total of 230 mm irrigation was applied over nine
passes to the irrigated trials. The March sown
dryland trial had some minor lodging and was
affected by shedding due to a strong wind in
mid January. The dryland trials were harvested
on 25 January 2013 and the irrigated trials were
harvested on 15 February 2013.
