Balfour (Feed Wheat)<br />

Soil: Kaweku silt loam, Dryland<br />
Following peas, this trial was sown on 23 April<br />
2012 surrounded by a crop of Einstein. The<br />
trial received four fungicides, three herbicides<br />
and a total of 250 kg N/ha was applied over<br />
three split applications. There was a moderate<br />
infestation of brome. The trial was harvested on<br />
27 February 2013.<br />
Bulls (Feed and Milling Wheat)<br />

This site was sown in a surrounding crop of<br />
Einstein on 1st June 2012 in a Rangitikei silt<br />
loam following maize. A total of 213 kg N/ha<br />
was applied over three split applications. The<br />
trial received one herbicide and two fungicide<br />
applications between September and November.<br />
The trial was harvested on 27 January 2013.<br />
Chertsey (March and April Feed Wheat)<br />

and Irrigated<br />
The March (21-03-2012) and April (20-04-2012)<br />
sown trials were drilled at the <strong>FAR</strong> Arable Site<br />
following peas. Each trial received a total of<br />
310 kg N/ha applied over three timings. The<br />
March sown trial received three herbicides,<br />
three fungicides, a PGR, two insecticides and<br />
an application of slug bait. The April sown trial<br />
also received three herbicides, three fungicides,<br />
and a PGR but only received one insecticide. A<br />
total of 230 mm irrigation was applied over nine<br />
passes to the irrigated trials. The March sown<br />
dryland trial had some minor lodging and was<br />
affected by shedding due to a strong wind in<br />
mid January. The dryland trials were harvested<br />
on 25 January 2013 and the irrigated trials were<br />
harvested on 15 February 2013.
