Practice Conservation
A good angler respects our natural resources and wants to conserve them for
others to enjoy. Always carry out everything you bring into the park – never
leave behind plastic containers, packaging or trash. It is particularly important
not to discard fishing line or hooks. They can be very dangerous and kill birds
and other wildlife. Bring your old or tangled fishing line to a fishing tackle
store where it can be recycled.
Boats
Only electric outboard motors, three horsepower or less, may be used to
propel boats (LMC 7.26.015)
What about Licenses?
Kids 14 and younger do not need a fishing license to fish. Angers 15 years
of age are required to have a youth fishing license. Those sixteen and over
are required to have an annual Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife
license. The exception to youth and adult license requirements is Free Fishing
Weekend, which is the Saturday and Sunday at the end of the first full week
in June. On this weekend, no license is required for anyone to fish.
Lake Sacajawea Fishing Information
Water Safety
Fishing is good, clean fun, but it also has its dangers. Falling into the water is
the biggest risk because it can result in hypothermia and drowning. Washington
State law requires children 12 years and younger to wear U. S. Coast
Guard-approved lifejackets on all boats under 19 feet, which includes most
fishing boats.
Have Fun!
Parents set a good example. If children see you catching more than your limit
and scattering garbage all over, they’ll think its part of fishing. Teach good
fishing manners, tell them about the rules, and wear a lifejacket to show
them it’s the thing to do. Go Play Outside.
Lake Sacajawea fishing regulations are
governed by the Washington
Department of Fish & Wildlife at 360-696-6211
or http://wdfw.wa.gov/.
