Children’s activities will let<br />

even <strong>the</strong> youngest explore<br />

<strong>the</strong> world of food, while older<br />

kids and teenagers will be on<br />

hand both as conference<br />

organizers and as active participants.<br />

When <strong>the</strong> conference<br />

is over, Brooklyn’s<br />

Bounty will spearhead an<br />

effort to take <strong>the</strong> ideas and<br />

excitement that <strong>the</strong> conference<br />

generates and translate<br />

<strong>the</strong>m <strong>in</strong>to a Brooklyn-wide,<br />

broad-based coalition with<br />

concrete policy-related<br />

actions. Work<strong>in</strong>g groups will<br />

be organized based on congressional<br />

districts, with <strong>the</strong><br />

goal of directly lobby<strong>in</strong>g our<br />

elected officials on <strong>the</strong><br />

national, state and city level<br />

to take action on <strong>the</strong>se<br />

important issues. This coalition<br />

will be pioneer<strong>in</strong>g a new<br />

approach to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Food</strong><br />

Democracy movement, one<br />

that will be pure “Brooklyn” <strong>in</strong><br />

style and scope: big and bold.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re are many opportunities<br />

for <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>Coop</strong><br />

members to volunteer to<br />

help build for <strong>the</strong> conference;<br />

<strong>in</strong> some circumstances<br />

FTOP time can be<br />

awarded. FTOP will also be<br />

available for those who help<br />

on <strong>the</strong> day of <strong>the</strong> conference,<br />

when we will need<br />

upwards of 100 volunteers.<br />
