Dear Neighbor:<br />

This edition <strong>of</strong> Beyond The Neon is full <strong>of</strong> activities for the whole family,<br />

regardless <strong>of</strong> age or ability. With the kids out <strong>of</strong> school, our summer<br />

camp programs at several <strong>of</strong> our community centers are very popular<br />

and <strong>of</strong>fer sports, special events, arts and crafts, nutrition, physical<br />

fitness, field trips and much more. Contact the center <strong>of</strong> your choice<br />

for program availability as our camps fill up quickly.<br />

In addition, we also <strong>of</strong>fer great opportunities for teens to stay active,<br />

including joining one <strong>of</strong> our Youth Councils. Teens can acquire practical<br />

skills that are useful in obtaining employment or scholarships while<br />

having fun with their peers planning and developing community<br />

projects. There are 10 locations throughout the city that <strong>of</strong>fer Youth<br />

Council programs and you can find more information in this brochure.<br />

<strong>Summer</strong>time also means a busy time in our beautiful, award-winning<br />

parks, trails and open spaces. We encourage you to get up, get out<br />

and get active today by planning a family event at one <strong>of</strong> our reservable<br />

park pavilions. More information is available beginning on page 59<br />

or you can call 229-6718.<br />

we have several resources available. Please see page 63 for more<br />

information on the Corridor <strong>of</strong> HOPE Center. In addition, financial<br />
