Dear Parents and Teachers, dear Students,
welcome to DSKL at the beginning of the new school year 2013/14.
I hope you had relaxing and exciting holidays and start with fresh energy and vigor into the new
school year.
The school staff met already during the preparatory week and got to know new colleagues. On our
Taster Day last Friday, 16 August many newcomers have visited us to learn more about DSKL.
The new teachers are:
- Mrs Johanna Rausch; she is the homeroom teacher for Year 4 and will be teaching French
for beginners
- Mr Reiner Domnik will be in charge of Year 3, which will integrate the two new Flex classes
- Mr Jens Roth will take over Year 10. He will be teaching Mathematics, Physics and
Computer Science.
We welcome our new assistants:

- Sabine Müller

Mrs. Jebbie Kaur Mecathum will assume the position as ‘Chaperone’ or director of our exchange
student home. Commencing this year, we will be providing a ‘mini boarding home‘ for 4 female
students of Years 11 and 12. We wish Mrs. Jebbie and her protegees - and, of course all new
comers to the school – a successful start.
The German Speaking Society Kuala Lumpur had organized a ‘Coffee-Morning’ on the first day of
school. Members of GSSKL are volunteering to offer any assistance to new comers. For more

Information on the Gym
The long-awaited flexible floor for the gym has finally arrived. However, before the athletes can
enjoy the cushioning and thus accident safe ground under their feet, please bear with us, as we
have encountered some technical problems when laying the floor. Therefore, we need to carry out
physical education outside the hall, as for example, in the pool.
‣ Due to this delay, the Kindergarten sports day will be renamed ‘Games, Fun and Activities
Day‘, and the KIGA will utilize its rooms, outdoor venues and materials accordingly.
‣ The following AGs will only start once the gym is fully functioning:
Wednesdays: Volleyball-AG, 7th/8th hour
Fridays: Basketball-AG, 9th/10th hour
Musical Instrument Lessons and WAGs:
‣ Please find attached some information on musical instrument lessons. You may
submit the return slip by Friday, 23 August either via e-mail mailto:sostmann@dskl.edu.my
or through Mrs Li Lee at the reception. Musical instrument lessons are scheduled to
commence on Monday, 2 September, 2013.
‣ Just a gentle reminder: the AG registration slip should be submitted on the same date.
The WAG-slips have been passed to the students yesterday.
The new School Year 2013-14 continued:
‣ Enrolment into Year one (Flex) on Friday, 23 August 2013, 10:00 am. The new German
Ambassador to Malaysia Mr. Michael has announced his presence.
Lessons for those just starting school will commence only after the celebration.
‣ End of school for all students during the upcoming two weeks: please refer to the e-mail
sent out to you on 19 August
‣ All AGs will commence on 2 September 2013
Summer Party 2013, Thursday, 29/08/13, from 06:00 pm
Due to haze-alarm, the summer fete had to be moved to the new school year. We would be
delighted to welcoming you at our traditional annual summer party. Delicious dinner will be served,
and we are looking forward to a pleasant and relaxing get-together.
The Flex-class children will enjoy some light entertainment from 06:00 - 09:00 pm; students of
Secondary I will chill out at the disco.
Year 12 students and the GSSKL (champagne bar) will be serving drinks.
Pedagogy Day falls on Friday, 30 August, thus, there will be no classes.
The Kindergarten will open as usual.
Exchange of ideas for all who are interested in Community Service
On 02/09/2013 07:30 pm, in the class room of Year 8: exchange of ideas on Community Service
among parents of all classes and students of Years 10 and 11.

parents who continuously maintain contacts to Community Service organizations, as we would like

All parents are invited. Elections for the new parents representatives/proxies will be
held this evening. Please find electoral reulations attached herewith.
‣ Please note: during the same week, on Thursday, 12/09/13, the parents representative
conference and the election of the parents council will be held.
Wanted: Supervision with Fun and Games
We are looking for a person who can provide daily supervision with fun and games for Flex class
children during 4th session (ca. 12:25 -01:25 pm). Kindly contact our secretariat at
