Floyd Newton ’73, P’10, ’12<br />
A native of Griffin, Georgia, Floyd attended <strong>Westminster</strong><br />
as a dorm student for his tenth, eleventh, and twelfth<br />
grade years. Both his older sister Jennie ’71 and younger<br />
brother Godfrey ’76 attended as dorm students as well.<br />
“Coming to <strong>Westminster</strong> was a huge opportunity for<br />
me, although the transition, especially the first year,<br />
was difficult. <strong>Westminster</strong> challenged me and taught me<br />
the importance of good study habits.” Floyd is also a<br />
<strong>Westminster</strong> parent, and he and his wife, Katrina, support<br />
the school in a variety of ways including volunteering as<br />
class parents and serving on PAWS.<br />
By making a gift to <strong>Westminster</strong>, Floyd and Katrina hope<br />
and expect that <strong>Westminster</strong> will attract and keep the kind<br />
of faculty which their children, and others after them,<br />
will remember just as Floyd remembers those who taught<br />
him. Floyd’s most influential faculty members include<br />
<strong>Westminster</strong> legends such as Charlie Brake, Charlie<br />
Breithaupt, Leon Scott, David Lauderdale, and Jerry<br />
Carnes. Most importantly though, Floyd maintains the<br />
friendships he made as a <strong>Westminster</strong> student and counts<br />
his time there as an important part of his upbringing.<br />
