In the late summer <strong>of</strong> the same year the regiment was<br />

called out in aid <strong>of</strong> the civil power in connection with a<br />

strike in the Nanaimo district, and a detachment <strong>of</strong> the <strong>72nd</strong><br />

was on continuous duty there until called back on mobiliza<br />

tion for active service in August, 1914.<br />

At the end <strong>of</strong> May, 1913, the <strong>Seaforth</strong>s joined other regi<br />

ments at the training camp at Vernon, B. C. This was said<br />

to be the largest military camp held in the province up to<br />

that time, there being about 1500 men present, including<br />

cavalry. Colonel Roy, D. 0. S., was the inspecting <strong>of</strong>ficer,<br />

and some very good work was done.<br />
