NORTH WARREN REGIONAL JUNE 7, 2011 Page 2 of 7 BOARD OF EDUCATION COMMITTEE REPORTS AND ACTION ITEMS Facility – Transportation – Community Relations – Dr. Fogelson updated the Board on the solar project. A meeting needs to be scheduled to discuss locker/weight room. Curriculum – Dr. Fogelson spoke about establishing an academic Hall of Fame for students who achieve a 93 average for 16 marking periods. The Board was in favor of this idea. Dr. Fogelson also spoke about eliminating the Dual Enrollment Program, changing the AP exam exemption, proposed use of Ipods in study halls, middle school promotion procedures. Dr. Fogelson indicated he would bring some proposals in writing to the Board at the June 28 th meeting. New Textbooks Motion by Ms. Landis Seconded by Ms. Scocozza To approve the following text books: Textbook Title Unit Cost Copyright Meteorology Today $114.75 2009 Integrated Science $ 76.50 2012 Physics: Principles with Application $116.64 2009 Miller and Levine Biology $ 81.47 2010 Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Finance Motion by Mr. Burns Seconded by Mr. Woznicki To group Agenda items C(1) – C(6) as follows: Capital Reserve To authorize the transfer of up to $400,000 to the Capital Reserve Account. Maintenance Reserve To authorize the transfer of up to $200,000 to the Maintenance Reserve Account. Memorandum of Agreement – Personal/Classroom Aides To approve the 2011/2012 Memorandum of Agreement between North Warren Regional School District and Frelinghuysen Township Elementary for Personal/Classroom Aides, beginning September 1, 2011 – June 30, 2012, as presented. 2011/2012 - Warren County Technical School – Tuition Contracts To approve a 2011/2012 tuition contract with Warren County Technical School for the following: Regular Ed Program - 30 students @ $2,175 = $65,250 Special Ed Program - 4 students @ $3,250 = $13,000 Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Security Coverage – Blairstown Police Dept. Motion by Mr. Burns Seconded by Mr. Woznicki To approve costs associated with security coverage by the Blairstown Police Dept. during the week of Graduation, including the evening of Graduation, at a cost of $85/hour. The amount of coverage will be determined by the Superintendent. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
NORTH WARREN REGIONAL JUNE 7, 2011 Page 3 of 7 BOARD OF EDUCATION Bills List – June 30, 2011 Motion by Mr. Burns Seconded by Mr. Woznicki To authorize the Business Administrator, on behalf of the District, pay all bills due June 30, 2011 and give a report to the Board at the July 18, 2011 Board meeting. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. PenTele Data Motion by Mr. Burns Seconded by Mr. Woznicki To approve upgrading the current contract with PenTele Data to provide increased bandwidth for $1766.37 per month. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Mr. Burns recused himself from the following motion Travel Motion by Mr. Woznicki Seconded by Ms. Rivara To approve the Travel & Expense Reimbursement approvals as presented. Roll call vote: Mr. Britten-aye, Mr. Cook-aye, Mr. Hanelt-aye, Ms. Landis-aye, Ms. Rivara-aye, Ms. Scocozza-aye, Mr. Woznicki-aye. Ayes-7, Nays-0, Abstentions-0. Motion carried Personnel – Policy – Administration Mr. Burns recused himself from all Personnel motions: Resignation – Danielle Shober Motion by Ms. Rivara Seconded by Ms. Landis To accept with regret and best wishes the resignation of Danielle Shober, effective June 30, 2011, as recommended by the Superintendent. Roll call vote: Mr. Britten-aye, Mr. Cook-aye, Mr. Hanelt-aye, Ms. Landis-aye, Ms. Rivara-aye, Ms. Scocozza-aye, Mr. Woznicki-aye. Ayes-7, Nays-0, Abstentions-0. Extended School Year Program Motion by Ms. Rivara Seconded by Ms. Landis To approve the following personnel for the Extended School Year and ancillary services for the summer of 2011 at their per diem or contracted rates from June 27 to July 28, as recommended by the Superintendent.
