2) World Pharmaceutical Market by Product Function
The world’s pharmaceutical market related with the top 10 diseases amount the
total value of USD184.3 billion to account for 32.9% of the whole. Individual
markets for lipid regulators, oncologics, and respiratory agents were the three
biggest subsection of the world’s market at the value of USD35.2, 34.6, and 24.6
billion, respectively.

ranked by the size of sales revenue. According to the IMS data, Lipitor of Pfizer
has remained unchallenged at the rank of No.1 since 2001, and its sales revenue
from 2006 amounted to USD13.6 billion. It was followed by Nexium,
Seretide/Advair, Plavix, and Norvasc with the sales revenue of USD6.7, 6.3, 5.8,
and 5 billion, respectively.
