9. Additional Benefits for National Members<br />
9.1. Air Travel<br />
9.1.1. Members and and their spouses are jointly entitled to 30 (thirty) single<br />
domestic business class flight tickets per annum at the expense of the<br />
relevant Department. The use of privilege tickets are at the discretion of the<br />
National Member and may in some cases be exchanged for use by a child<br />
minder or other domestic workers in the personal employ of the Member.<br />
9.1.2. These tickets can be utilised by family members of the Member on an<br />
exchange basis, with the condition that when family members travel alone<br />
the tickets should be booked in economy class.<br />
9.1.3. Notwithstanding the provisions above, dependent children are each entitled<br />
to (6) six single domestic economy class tickets per annum to reunite with<br />
their parents during the Member’s regular travel between Cape Town and<br />
Pretoria.<br />
9.1.4. These air tickets can be exchanged for other forms of transport, including<br />
train journeys, at the discretion of the Member.<br />
10. Taxation<br />
10.1. Members are responsible for acquainting themselves with their own tax<br />
obligation.<br />
10.2. The following benefits and allowances are not taxable:<br />
a. The use of an official vehicle for official purposes;<br />
b. Occupying one State-owned residence for official purposes free of<br />
charge; and<br />
c. Utilising <strong>Parliamentary</strong> Allowance for official purposes.<br />
