MATHEMATIAL MODEL OF DNA LESIONS<br />

It is well known that ionizing radiation is a mutagen, i.e. ionizing radiation leads to<br />

mutations in the deoxyribonucleic acids molecule. The latter may be the cause <strong>of</strong> various<br />

genetic diseases. In this paper the process <strong>of</strong> DNA molecule ionization was modeled. The<br />

ionization radiation was created by pass <strong>of</strong> alpha particle through matter. Sequence <strong>of</strong><br />

DNA bases with ionized sites was chosen and the migration <strong>of</strong> charge was modeled on<br />

the basis <strong>of</strong> quasi-classical double stranded model. This migration resulted in mechanical<br />

damage <strong>of</strong> molecules, in particular the double stranded breaks. These breaks may lead<br />

to mutation. Thus, in the paper following process was modelled: alpha particles passing<br />

trough matter resulted in conditions <strong>for</strong> possible mutation.<br />
