Students Camp out
For our IA Bronze Certificate we were obliged to
go on a camping expedition. We all thought this
would be an educational, exhilarating, exciting
opportunity, but knew there was a lot to organise,
including:
• the date and times
• the route we would take
• the necessary equipment
• the food we would need
• the announcements to parents
This done, we met on Friday the 8th May, divided
our group up into 3 sub groups each with a
different route and accompanying teachers and
set off for our overnight adventure.
The hike
We were dropped off at Mega Image and headed
immediately into the woods. All the groups had a
lot of fun and luckily no one got lost, though one of

the groups was temporarily misplaced toward the
end of the hike whilst trying to find Casa Alba and
as a result missed out on eating ice cream with the
other two groups!
Overnight at school
Back at school, we started putting up the tents,
deciding that it would be better to get it done
before it got dark. Afterward we all got to enjoy 45
minutes of free time on the climbing frame or just
relaxing.
Over the next hour or so everyone took a shower
and got started on preparing our dinner. The
students and teachers prepared their meals
separately, with most of the students ending up
eating pasta, whilst the teachers appeared to be
feasting in style on steak, chicken, salad, baked
potatoes, and Greek Kazani, which they thankfully
shared with us hungry students. After we had
cleared up, stored our food and got changed
into our pyjamas, we all thought of a story or put
together a short skit or play and entertained each
other for the rest of the night until lights out at 11;
though many of us continued to laugh hysterically
in the tents for some time before sleep eventually
took hold of us all.

On the walk

Our morning alarm clock was Mr Power, who
proceeded to wake us up with his lovely morning
songs, which I think we would all say did a good
job waking us, but didn’t leave 15 sleepy teenage
kids very happy. It was 7 in the morning!!
After a quick breakfast we took down the tents,
dried those that needed drying, and packed our
bags, having 45 minutes free time to talk and sort
the last things out like brushing teeth.
The final activities we did included Star Wars
(dodgier never-the-less a cooler version of
oddball) and other team building activities like
Make a bridge!
At 12 our parents arrived to pick us up and so we
said our last farewells. I think everyone on the
trip would say it was a lot of fun, educational, and
really good because we all got to know each other
even better, so a big thank you to all the teachers
who made this experience possible! We hope
there will be many more trips like this to come.
