General practice education
for musculoskeletal conditions
Osteoarthritis is the 10th
most commonly managed
problem in general practice
and 11% of men and 27%
of women aged 60 years
or over are osteoporotic.
Only 7–20% of patients
who have sustained
an osteoporotic fracture
receive treatment for
osteoporosis to prevent
further fractures. *
These projects are supported by funding from the
Australian Government Department of Health and
Ageing through the Better Arthritis and Osteoporosis
Care Initiative
* The RACGP Clinical guidelines for the management
of musculoskeletal diseases
