IAESTE International Academic Award
"Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest
is the oldest and most important Academic Institution in its field in
Romania. Its foundation is closely linked with the rise of modern
Romania and the setting of its new Institutional structure and
culture. The first School of Architecture was legally established
in 1864, based on an Act issued by the first Monarch of the
newly founded State but, due to a lack of students, it never
really functioned. The first Romanian architects studied mostly
in Paris, at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts (the first DPLG was Ion
Mincu in 1883) and due to their enthusiasm on 15 October 1892
the Romanian Society of Architects set up a private School of
Architecture under its authority.
UAUIM’s years of experience in International academic
relationships supported IAESTE activity, first as an Associate
Member of IAESTE International and now as a partner of IAESTE
Romania and we are very proud of this. The most visible results
of our initiatives can be seen through the increasing number
of exchanges that occur in the field of Architecture between
Romania and countries abroad. Moreover, IAESTE Romania
has its headquarters in the UAUIM building as well as the Local
Committee of Bucharest. Both are managed by the President of
UAUIM himself and his fellow Staff Professors who have invested
their energy and experience to guarantee a professional service
to the students who are sent and received in Romania. The
University is very proud to have received this International Award
in recognition of its work to developing IAESTE in Romania.
