Spirited competition in the pool
Spirited rivalry combined with great
sportsmanship made for a fantastic
2013 House Swimming Carnival.
Douglas and McLachlan houses
both brought their ‘A’ games to
the carnival, with the result being
determined competition and some
very tight contests.
In the end Douglas stretched out
the points differential to 57, taking
the 2013 trophy with 993 points
while McLachlan was granted an
honourable second on 936.
The other houses were not to be
forgotten, with all swimmers trying
valiantly to gain points for their
teams.
There was plenty of House spirit on
display in the stands, with creative
costumes, chants and decorations
from all Houses.
At the end of the day, after valiant
efforts by all, the final points tally gave
Douglas House the win.
Congratulations to all senior students
for the wonderful sportsmanship and
spirit they showed throughout the day.
Record-breaking
effort at ISA
carnival
KWS swimmers recorded our
School’s best ever result at the
Independent Sporting Association
(ISA) swimming carnival in March.
KWS took on 31 other schools
at the Sydney Olympic Park
Aquatic Centre, coming first in
Girls Division 1 and third in Boys
Division 1.
In an amazing result, 10 out of our
12 relay teams finished in the top
three and will progress to the CIS
carnival.
The team was strengthened by
this year’s intake of new students;
Loren Hughes, Josie Gillham,
Georgia Baker, Harry Crouch,
Hayden Rutter and Tom Payne all
adding considerable depth.
Congratulations to Georgia on
breaking the 50 Backstroke record
(31.84) and to the Senior Girls
4x50 Freestyle relay team (S Hall,
S Archer, E Rutherford and A Bush)
for their record of 1:59.20.
