Wireless freedom Established solution Touch DIM has nowadays become a synonym for easyto-handle light controls. With Touch DIM, the mains voltage is used directly as a control signal via a commercially available pushbutton, meaning that the control unit can be eliminated. This permits extremely low-cost realisation of dimmable lighting installations that cater to many demands on convenience. Very convenient operation With the new "Touch DIM Remote Control System", all Touch DIM-compatible electronic control gear - identified by the Touch DIM logo - such as QTi DALI or QT DALI from OSRAM, can be conveniently controlled remotely. The system consists of a 2-channel radio receiver module and a 2-channel radio control button. The receiver module for controlling up to 2 x 20 ECG units can either be installed directly in a luminaire, or fitted in a false ceiling with a snap-on mounting kit. For the first time, no batteries are required for supplying the transmitter module in the radio control button thanks to the use of innovative piezoelectric technology. In addition, due to its extremely reliable transmission over distances of up to roughly 30 m in buildings and 300 m outdoors, the "Touch DIM Remote Control System" stands out as a truly professional solution compared to the host of products from the consumer sector available on the market. Focus on retrofitting The mains connection of the luminaires is sufficient for use of the Touch DIM receiver. As a result, the modernisation of existing lighting installations no longer requires the installation of new cables. This also offers excellent conditions for integration into open architecture with glass Fig. 1. The Touch DIM RC radio receiver module is just 21 mm high walls, or into historical buildings, since the radio control button does not require a flush-mounted box and can always be positioned optimally or later relocated at any time without major effort. Options for flexible expansion The unique coding of each control button prevents mutual interference between adjacent systems. Up to 30 radio control buttons can very simply be programmed into each receiver module at the push of a button, and deleted just as simply if necessary. In addition, the use of one radio control button for several receivers permits expansion, or flexible grouping of several areas of a room. Lighting control can thus easily be adapted to changing room conditions and occupancies without rewiring. Touch DIM Remote Control reduces the installation and maintenance effort substantially. Touch DIM radio control button new generation of intelligent QTi control gear, it additionally offers a hitherto unknown degree of freedom when planning and realising modern lighting solutions. The system is not only suitable for use in functional buildings: in combination with the new HTi intelligent transformer for the operation of low-voltage halogen lamps, it also caters to demanding applications in the private residential sector. Warm-white adds atmosphere Conversion changes atmosphere From today's point of view, the operation of mercury vapour lamps is relatively uneconomical. Compact fluorescent lamps offer an alternative. This fact was also recognised by the Elektrizitätswerk Tegernsee utility company. They, and the communities they serve, had long since wanted to do away with the HQL mercury vapour lamps used in the past. The old lamps have gradually been replaced by compact fluorescent lamps since mid-2003. Optimised operation is guaranteed by innovative control gear from OSRAM. And because of the different colour temperature, the atmosphere in urban spaces has also changed. Street lighting in the light of compact fluorescent lamps Fig. 1. Consequently, at the request of Elektrizitätswerk Tegernsee, the LIC-Langmatz company developed a low-cost, easyto-install conversion kit for the "EL-218 AMSTERDAM" and "EL-77 BAVARIA" luminaires. The kit consists of a base plate, equipped with QUICK- TRONIC QT-T/E 1x57/230-240 control gear, and a lamp socket for DULUX T/E 57 IN compact fluorescent lamps. For conversion, only two screws and a plug-and-socket connection have to be removed and subsequently reconnected after changing the base plate (Fig. 2). Powerful lamp for outdoor lighting Compact fluorescent lamps of the IN range are amalgamtype lamps eminently suitable for use in outdoor lighting. The amalgam they contain guarantees a luminous flux of more than 90% of the nominal luminous flux in the temperature range from +5 °C to +70 °C. Mercury vapour Compact lamp fluorescent lamp HQL 80 + CCG DULUX T/E 57 IN + ECG QT-T/E 1x57 Colour temperature: 4,100 K 3,000 K (4,000 K, 2,700 K) Colour rendering: System luminous 3 1B efficacy: 43 lm/W 69 lm/W Luminous flux: 3,800 lm 4,300 lm System output: 89 W 62 W Other advantages of the compact fluorescent lamp The flexible choice of colour temperature - 4,000 K, 3,000 K or 2,700 K - offers an additional benefit: the communities now radiate warm-white light, rather than neutral white (Fig. 1). The targeted savings on energy costs arise from the substantially higher system luminous efficacy of the DULUX lamp compared to the mercury vapour lamp: 69 lm/W instead of 43 lm/W. The higher luminous flux of 4,300 lm, as opposed to 3,800 lm, additionally results in higher illuminance values on roads and footpaths. Moreover, the lower thermal load, together with roughly only half as much UV emission, protects the luminaire louvres against premature ageing. Control gear for reliable ignition The specially developed QUICKTRONIC QT-T/E 1x57/230-240 electronic control gear is optimally suited to operation of the DULUX T/E 57W IN amalgam lamp. In addition to offering all the benefits of electronic operation, this ECG also ensures reliable lamp ignition at ambient temperatures down to -20 °C.
