MITCH BENN
some hilarious rants on actors, the
& THE DISTRACTIONS Pope, the BBC. Inter working with the
Distractions, Mitch for his size, kept the
Who you may well ask is this Mitch
whole set thing moving, and himself
Benn, well anyone who listens to BBC
well tanked up with water (I’m assuming
Radio 4 ‘The Now Show’ will know that
it was only water)
Mitch is a regular contributor of the
This was a show that deserved a bigger
show since 1999 and BBC 2’s ‘It’s Been
stage and larger audience, the place
A Bad Week’ since 2000. He is of Liverpudlian
/ Scottish descent, as a stand
sadly, was half full, where are you Basingstoke
Without Arts Centres would
up comedian he is better known for his
talent like this disappear from live performances
If you get the chance to
humorous rock songs, which he has
performed at various music festivals
catch Mitch Benn & The Distractions
Mitch Benn & The Distractions have
been on tour since the 11th September
this year, which stated at The Cornerstone
in Didcot, they played the South
Street Arts Centre, Reading on September
30th and October 1st before appearing
at The Central Studio on the 2nd
October. I had not been to an event at
Central Studio for about 16 years, and
was presently surprised at how it had
changed and they had created a more
intermit setting with blue as the colour.
Mitch came on with his Distractions
bass player Kirsty Newton, who played
keyboard as well, and a drummer playing
a modern electronic kit, which he
really did handle well, both excellent
musicians. From the introduction
through to the end of the first half, Mitch
entertained, this guy is so quick and CENTRAL STUDIOS
clever, not forgetting fun and funny!! As Central Studio’s is a small theatre situated
on the campus of Queen Mary’s
they ended the first half Mitch said give
me some current topic’s and I will during
the break work out a song for the Not the easiest place to find!! And when
College, Cliddesden Road,Basingstoke.
second half, which when they reappeared
had, played setting the second easy to find the way out of the car park!!
dark and tipping down with rain not so
half as fast and entertaining as the first. Nice modern theatre, comfortable seating,
nice intimate setting
I really enjoyed this evening which involved
every aspect of life today, with
