is thought into being is manifesting ‘unreal’ phenomena, i.e., a<br />
passing and ever-changing universe as compared with <strong>the</strong> Reality<br />
which is eternal and free from differentiati<strong>on</strong> and change.<br />

Var: Abedhabhaava,<br />
Sense: ‘N<strong>on</strong>-separateness, uni<strong>on</strong>:’ <strong>the</strong> sense of being totally One<br />
with <strong>the</strong> Omnipresence and all creati<strong>on</strong>. This is often <strong>the</strong> result of<br />
abheda-bhakti (or <strong>the</strong> sense of devoti<strong>on</strong>al unity).<br />
Abhimatha (ab-bhi-mah-tah)<br />

Syn<strong>on</strong>:<br />
Sense: ‘That to which <strong>the</strong> practiti<strong>on</strong>er of yoga finds his mind<br />
becoming naturally attached.’ — Patanjali’s <strong>Yoga</strong> Sutra.<br />
However, according to Krishnamacharya of Madras, this is <strong>the</strong><br />
very tendency which yoga seeks to overcome, and <strong>the</strong>refore states<br />
that <strong>the</strong> correct rendering of Patanjali’s Sutra should be yethabhimata,<br />
or “according to <strong>on</strong>e’s religious practice.”<br />
