Two additional headwater slumps were identified on an un-named intermittent drainage between Moose and Mystery Mountains, informally named during the survey as “Moose Creek” (MC). These slumps on Moose Creek were not factored in estimating the total sediment delivered to the Poplar River due to their distance from the Poplar River and uncertainty regarding sediment in this reach of the tributary. A map portraying the mapped slump zones is shown in Figure 3.2. The average slope of all slumps was 63 percent, with a maximum of 82 percent and a minimum of 52 percent (see Table 3.2). The slumps on the Poplar River range in area from 0.01 to 1.44 acres with an average 0.15 acres. Soil detachment estimates range from approximately 40 tons to a high of almost 8,000 tons, with a total estimated contribution to the Poplar River of 12,000 tons, over an unknown time period. This soil detachment from the slumps helps explain the “other source” of sediment shown in Figure 3.1. 18
