LIVE LIFE
ABUNDANTLY
The past five years have been an incredible journey, and my life has been
and will be forever changed because I said “yes” to building an Arbonne business.
Arbonne has given me such a rich quality of life with so much freedom
and so many choices. However, five years ago life looked very different. I
was working in corporate event planning and catering and felt overworked
and underpaid, working around 50 to 60 hours a week and into weekends,
evenings and holidays. Although I was very young — just out of college and
only 22 years old — I knew that there had to be more than this. Have you
ever pondered where you are going to be in five or 10 years if you keep
doing what you are currently doing I peered down that road and realized
that I wanted more, so I started looking for other options.
I was convinced that there had to be a job out there that could give me the
three things I was searching for in a career: financial stability, flexibility with my
schedule and personal fulfillment. Looking back, I see how young and naïve
I really was! Most jobs may give you one or two of those things, but not all
three. Each career path I pursued led me to a dead end, and it seemed like
the jobs that paid well gave no time freedom, and the jobs that offered more
freedom and fulfillment would leave me with too much month for my money.
I was at a crossroads. Then, I met Arbonne.
My sister, Jaime Dadd, invited me to an Arbonne Presentation that one of her
friends was having. I had never heard of Arbonne and I was not a product
type of person. However, after learning more about Arbonne and what
made the products different, I was really impressed with the caliber of the
Arbonne products. I learned a lot about my health, and that was something
that interested me. My curiosity was also piqued by the Arbonne opportunity.
As I looked at the picture in the back of the Product Catalogue of the white
Mercedes-Benz, I thought to myself, “I wonder if I could do this”
I left and had a 45-minute drive home that evening. During that time, I talked
myself out of any interest I had in learning more about Arbonne because of
concerns centered around fear. I didn’t know what people would think of me
if I started “something like this.” I had seen other people fail at home-based
businesses and I didn’t know that a high level of achievement could actually
be attained. I had always been successful at things I pursued in life and I
didn’t want to pursue anything unless I knew I could do it well. And of course,
as most people say, “I didn’t have time.” Well, who does We’re all busy
people. So I got home and threw away all of the information I had been
given — even the precious skin care sample pack!
I am so grateful that my sister, Jaime Dadd, went home and did the opposite:
She started doing research on the Arbonne products and on different aspects
of this business. She called me about two weeks later to let me know she had
decided to start her Arbonne business. She told me that if I didn’t at least take
Ashley and the wonderful family she’s so grateful for.
a look at this, I would regret it later. That was all it took. I trusted Jaime
and she had always been successful at whatever she did. Our dynamic
partnership began in October of 2004!
I started this business alongside my full-time job and all of my other
engagements and responsibilities, and my personal goal was to replace
my income as quickly as I could. I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. I
could only work my Arbonne business part time, about 15 hours a week,
but I worked it consistently. I decided what I could give up and cut out
of my schedule in order to make this business work. I heard a quote a
few years ago that impacted me. It said that when someone says they
don’t have time for something, they are not stating a fact, they are stating
a priority. Arbonne became a priority for me because I had caught
the vision of all this could be and do in my life. I made the time for it.
I worked hard and moved quickly — our team promoted to Region in
10 months and to Nation just eight months later. I was the company’s
youngest National Vice President at the time, at just 24 years of age.
We built a growing, dynamic team, and I felt like I had found what I was
meant to do — the inner giant inside of me who knew it was created
for greatness was starting to come out!
I have now been in this business for more than five years, and it has
changed every aspect of my life. I could never put a dollar amount on
the freedom that I have been able to experience because of Arbonne.
I love waking up in the morning when I want to. I love not having to ask
a boss for sick or vacation days. I love being able to spend time with
friends and family and build my work around my life, instead of my life
around my work. Arbonne has given me the ability to do some amazing
things, both personally and in the lives of others, and to pursue my passions.
I am so grateful, and it is both my goal and my mission to share
this amazing company — its products and its opportunity — with others.
Things have not always been easy. I have dealt with and overcome
many personal and professional obstacles in the past five years. I have
dealt with attrition and people quitting, failed expectations, both in
myself and in the timing of things, and I have overcome many personal
fears. Through this process, I have become better and have learned
to love and accept myself. Some of my perfectionism has been filtered
out and I have fallen in love with the journey of this business. I love this
company. I love my team and feel honored to get to work with such a
high caliber of people each and every day. Arbonne has given me so
much — I truly love my life.
I have relocated several times during my business and I love that Arbonne
gives me the freedom to take my work with me and grow, from my start
in Houston, to Maui, Dallas and now New York City! This business has
not only taught me how to dream, but it has showed me that dreams
don’t just have to be dreams — they really are attainable, if you are
willing to work for them.
If you are looking into this business, I want to commend you. That alone
takes courage to break the mold and have hope that some things can
be different for your life. I want to let you know that this business is very
simple, but it takes a lot of heart and a lot of perseverance. People quit.
People don’t show up. You have to overcome disappointments and hear
the word “no.” You have to understand that this is a business, and unless
you treat it like one, you cannot expect for it to pay you like one. I cannot
make you any promises of success, but I can promise you a couple of
things. One, this business does work, if you do. And two, if you allow
it enough time — both time to grow and time for it to grow you — you
will not only build a successful business, but you will also change as a
person and become so much better because of how you’ve persevered.
I have so many people to whom I am grateful.
First, to my sister, Jaime: You saw greatness in me and you believed that
I could do this even when I was skeptical. Thank you for believing in
continued...
success strategy:
Persevere and hold on to your vision.
Allow your passions and the
things you want in life to drive you,
have fun with your business
and enjoy your journey.
camaraderie is one of the richest parts of this business.
me and encouraging me over the years. It has changed my life. I am so
grateful we’ve been able to work together for the past five years. I have
fun with you and love the time Arbonne has given us to spend together.
To Mom and Dad: You always did believe in us and taught us that we
could do anything we put our minds to. Thank you for that gift and for
teaching us the value of a strong work ethic. I see now just how important
that is, and it is definitely something that I will pass on.
and seeing the world! Here she is in northern India with the
beautiful children at an orphanage.
I know who the giver of all good things is, and I know that I was created
with unique gifts and talents and with my own unique personality. I am
so grateful for the ability to build this business.
national VICE PRESIDENT
To President Rita Davenport and CEO Kay Napier: I have never had more
belief in this company and where we are going. Having you at the helm
of this ship makes me so confident in our direction. Thank you for your
love, for listening to us and for believing in us. Your direction and belief
is changing the lives of thousands of people. You have taught me to pay
it forward, and I know that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
In closing, one of my favorite quotes says that the future belongs to those
who believe in the beauty of their dreams. I want you to know that your
life counts and your dreams are important. If you’re ready to step out
and go after them, the time is now. You have the opportunity — what
will you do with it
To Cecilia, Donna, Miranda and Roxanne: You have, as Rita says, “loved
all over me” for five years. Each of you is a role model to me and I cherish
having you in my life. I am constantly learning things from you about
life, and I am so thankful that I have you to look up to.
To Kat Armstrong, Sally Collier and Jessica Alexander: You were my first
ACEs and we have shared this journey for five years now. It has been a
journey, not just with business, but with life. Thank you for your friendship,
your vision and your love. I am grateful you are in my life and on this team.
To all of the members of this wonderful team who have persevered, held
on to their dreams and who truly are warriors: I am so proud of you and
so proud to call you not only business partners, but friends. I believe in
you and your greatness. This is our moment — it’s your time to shine!
To all of my faithful customers over the years: I am so glad you love and
believe in the Arbonne products as much as I do, and I am so grateful
for your business. Thank you so much for your support.
