The Windellama News makes out a receipt for all
advertising payments made to the paper. We don’t post
out receipts to save cost and we assume that the
appearance of the advertisement in the paper could
normally be taken as proof of payment.
If you require a posted receipt please include a stamped
self-addressed envelope with your payment.
It would be greatly appreciated if anyone sending
money to the Windellama News would include their
name and address and a note saying what it was for

Willow Glen Road Gardeners
The next get together will be at
Lieschen & Bob Beier’s
789 Willow Glen Road
on Tuesday 2nd March, starting at 10am.
All who are interested in gardening wanting to
know how to garden in our area with all its
variances, problems, pests, etc. are most
welcome.
We take it in turn to host our get togethers, so
we get to see various styles of gardens, soil
types, situations, etc.
There is no charge or membership
requirements or formal meetings; but please
bring a plate for morning tea to share with you
when you come.

Windellama Historical Society
The next exhibition on display at Windellama
Museum will feature Gold in our Area as the
theme.
With this in mind, there will be a visit organised
by Windellama Historical Society to ‘Spring
Creek’ to look at the remnant diggings there,
also the water race, and much more.
The date for this excursion will be *****. The
last visit was in October 2001 with quite a large
number of folk eager to visit the site.
The museum is open on Market Days – the
third Sunday of each month, from 10am.
If you wish to purchase a piece of local history
in books, postcards, bookmarks, etc., then go
no further than your local Windellama Museum.
Next Meeting will be held at the

Another month has gone by very quickly. We
had during this period, three callouts, which
appears to be insignificant, when compared to
the following : which is taken from a letter sent
to all N.S.W.Health Volunteers, from the
Ambulance Service of N.S.W.
Letter dated the 15/02/2010. Permission was
obtained before reprinting same.
"As we celeberate N.S.W. Health Volunteer
Appreciation Day, we acknowledge that
behind most community organisations are the
helping hands of volunteers. The Ambulance
Service of N.S.W. is no exception and we are
grateful to have such a large volunteer base,
without whom, we would not be able to provide
the emergency medical service we are
renowned for.More people have needed our
help this year than ever before, with over one
millionTriple Zero (000) calls received".
It is timely to make note of the quote of
TRIPLE ZERO, as there is no such thing as
triple "O". We have all been guilty of this, but
please try and break the habit.
The roads are in a terrible state, after the
torrentional downpour on Sunday 14th so
please take extra care.

Locals Linking Landscapes
A public meeting was hosted by the Windellama Progress Association and Windellama Landcare
Group on Saturday 13 February to listen to and respond to a proposal from the Upper Shoalhaven
Catchment Management Authority (USCMA) for a coordinated program of projects in the
Windellama area.
At the well attended meeting over 60 people were informed, instructed, entertained and cajoled by
David Hilhorst and Dave Anthony from the USCMA to discuss their problems and then develop a
series of projects that will provide a shared vision for the Windellama and beyond landscape.
The participants identified their major concerns such as weeds, soil health, including salinity,
acidity and erosion, soil management, including grazing management and revegetation, also feral
pests, motor bikes and off-stream water. A number of possible solutions were also outlined. David
then encouraged the meeting to think beyond their own properties and develop a broader
landscape focus.
The discussions were well informed by the use of computerised maps that illustrated wetland
areas, areas of serrated tussock, woodland and grassland areas and areas of potential salinity in
the broader Windellama area.
The meeting endorsed the concept that projects have or contributed to connections between
projects, be it wild-life corridors or linking woodlands or grasslands or addressing related erosion
concerns.
David Hilhorst sought expressions of interest from participants for projects that address the
concerns raised with a strong preference for those that demonstrated the principle of connection
including cooperation between neighbours. Expressions of interest can be submitted to David
Hilhorst at the Upper Shoalhaven Catchment Management Authority, Braidwood by 5 March.
