Two of our Windellama Landcare members
recently eloped to New Zealand, where on the
28th March they married. To Beth & Mike
Powell (above) we congratulate you both and
wish you all the best.
New Citizen
Litter along our Roads
Just like to bring something to the
communities attention. Over recent months
there has been a reasonable amount of
rubbish dumped along a section of
Windellama Road in April.
A resident spotted an older model red range
rover that is believed to be the culprit of the
dumping. The driver took off when the resident
came down their driveway, after throwing the
rubbish bag back in his vehicle.
The resident hopes they are wrong and not
blaming the wrong person/s but hopes this
behaviour stops.
Also recently there has been many bottles
deposited along Oallen Ford Road.
Drink/driving is an offence, not to mention the
ugliness that is created.
Some people are leaving other items out
where the rubbish stations used to be located.
These items could have been donated to
others in need; or to the local brigade to be
auctioned. Next time please just make a
phone call.
Amazingly all this rubbish has appeared after
Clean Up Australia Day.
A new grandson, Orlando, arrived safely at 36
weeks weighing 3.3kg (7lb 3oz) for Gary &
Denise Johnson; another member of their
growing soccer team.

The Veolia Mulwaree Trust provides funding to
charities and community organisations through
its community grant program.
Recently Windellama Public School was
successful in applying to the Veolia Mulwaree
Trust for a grant of $6543 toward the
construction of a school equipment shed.
In 2008 the Windellama Progress Association
received $3429 toward the purchase of three
shade tents for the use at Windellama
community events.
The next meeting of the Veolia Mulwaree Trust
will be held in June.

Nerriga Fishing Club
The Nerriga Fishing Club exists primarily for
the stocking of fish annually into local rivers;
Shoalhaven, Endrick and the Corang.
These fish are normally Brown Trout, obtained
from Gaden Trout Hatchery at Jindabyne,
delivered to Goulburn and distributed by club
volunteers from all local clubs – Goulburn,
Grabben Gullen, Binda, Berrima, Crookwell,
Taralga and Nerriga.
Money raised by our club is used mainly as
affiliation fees to Southern District Angling
Clubs, through whom we receive our Trout. We
are hoping soon to be able to afford to
purchase native fish, probably Australian Bass,
on a dollar-for-dollar basis, from the Dept. of
Fisheries, for release in or local streams. This
will, along with the 23,000 trout fry released
annually, hopefully improve local angling
prospects, for local residents and also for
visitors to the area.
Our club urgently needs new, active members
to alleviate the burden on our current
membership as some of us are approaching
the Senior Citizen stage. The club has actively
promoted the re-stocking agenda for many
years – it must not be allowed to decline.
Re-stocking occurs only once annually and
takes about half of a Saturday, during
November.

Friday afternoon.
Windellama SES First Aid & CFR
We recently went to the polo cross, gees, what
a difference to the bikes and Pauline Fathers!
Luckily another quite day for us all but an
enjoyable day.
Kevin and some of the team went to the bikes
on the weekend, thanks to you all; and last
Friday we went to Pauline Fathers.
On the CFR side only one call out this month.
Just to let all the community know we train the
second Wednesday of each month, so that is
why you sometimes see an ambulance at
Windellama Hall.

Vandalism of our phone booth
Approximately around Sunday night March 22nd our one and only public phone booth was
vandalised by someone without a brain or conscious. We all fought long and hard to get
this service in the first place.
With Telstra making noises about completely removing this service which is so vital,
especially for those with no mobile coverage in our area, we find this action reprehensible.
This phone service is used every day by travellers, weekenders and especially with Road
92 being upgraded linking the coast with our region, this phone is needed, especially in an
emergency.
Please contact Telstra and voice your concern
to keep this phone booth service operational.

WINDELLAMA PROGRESS ASSOC. HALL Inc.
April was another quiet month, however things
will pick up in May. The orienteering event will
be held on Timberlight on Sunday 3rd May.
Progress will be catering for approximately 250
runners and support staff.
Any offers of help will be gratefully accepted.
Unfortunately this is the day following the
Auction; however, we cannot afford to turn
down any chance to raise money for the
Association.
June 13th has been set aside for a working
bee at the hall. Several jobs need to be
completed, including interior painting and
finishing off the bar area. We also plan to put
up more shelving for storage and a general
clean up. All help will be appreciated and
lunch will be provided. Start time is 9 a.m.
Windellama Landcare is donating trees and
shrubs to the Progress Association for infill
planting and to beautify the hall grounds. The
trees planted last year are doing well,
considering the season we have had, and we
shall be using the Landcare gift to continue our
landscape programme.
The Annual General Meeting of the
Progress Association is to be held on
Saturday 30th May at 2 p.m. All executive
and committee positions will be declared
vacant and an election held to fill them for the
following year. Nomination forms can be
obtained from the President – Cathy Meehan
and Secretary – Frances Knights. Please
consider joining the Association for an annual
subscription of $5.
If you are happy with the way things are run
and would like to help, or if you would like to
see things done differently, please come along
and voice your opinion. It is much easier from
the inside.
Our next general meeting will follow the
A.G.M. on the 30th May.
