Functionality<br />

Performs initial configuration for the CMS.<br />

NOTE: For best performance, running mxinitconf is not<br />

recommended after <strong>Systems</strong> <strong>Insight</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> is configured.<br />

Logs an entry to the log file or standard out.<br />

Adds, deletes, and processes a list of MIBs for <strong>Systems</strong> <strong>Insight</strong><br />

<strong>Manager</strong> and lists registered MIBs and traps for a specific<br />

registered MIB.<br />

Enables you to create, modify, remove, and list system groups<br />

in <strong>Systems</strong> <strong>Insight</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>.<br />

Adds, modifies, identifies, removes, or lists systems in <strong>Systems</strong><br />

<strong>Insight</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>.<br />

Adds, modifies, or removes security credentials for sign-in, SNMP,<br />

SSH, WS-MAN, and WBEM protocols.<br />

Enables you to configure <strong>Systems</strong> <strong>Insight</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> to use an<br />

Oracle database. This command does not initiate the database.<br />

Adds, lists, modifies, or removes passwords stored in <strong>Systems</strong><br />

<strong>Insight</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>. The passwords are displayed in clear text for<br />

readability.<br />

Adds, lists, modifies, or removes queries in <strong>Systems</strong> <strong>Insight</strong><br />

<strong>Manager</strong>.<br />

NOTE: Using mxcollection is preferred over using<br />

category with mxquery. Using cat will still work for mxquery,<br />

but you should switch to mxcollection for creating and<br />

manipulating collections (previously known as categories).<br />

Enables users with sufficient privileges to run reports and add,<br />

delete, and list reports and report categories.<br />

Starts the <strong>Systems</strong> <strong>Insight</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> daemons.<br />

Displays or returns (through the exit code) the current ready or<br />

not-ready state of <strong>Systems</strong> <strong>Insight</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>.<br />

Adds, removes, and lists System Type <strong>Manager</strong> rules.<br />

Stops the <strong>Systems</strong> <strong>Insight</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> daemons.<br />

Lists, executes, removes, creates, and changes ownership for<br />

<strong>Systems</strong> <strong>Insight</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> scheduled tasks through the command<br />

line or an external XML file.<br />

Enables users to add, list, modify, or remove <strong>Systems</strong> <strong>Insight</strong><br />

<strong>Manager</strong> tools.<br />

Enables administrative rights users to add, rename, describe,<br />

disable, enable, remove, and list toolboxes.<br />

Adds, modifies, removes, or lists users. mxuser also enables<br />

you to assign authorizations for created users and user groups.<br />

Enables you to add, list, delete, or move WBEM event<br />

subscriptions from nodes managed by the CMS. This command<br />

requires access to a file that enables only administrative rights<br />

user access.<br />
