experience, has run a shop and
restaurant on Lower Lonsdale in
North Vancouver, received an LIP
grant from the Artist's Gallery in
Vancouver and was employed on a
OPENS NOVEMBER 1
Artery opens on November 1
with watercolour paintings by
Megan Faminow. The exhibition
continues through the month of
November. Megan studied etching,
painting, drawing and art
history at Capilano College, North
Vancouver, in 1974 and 1975 but is
basically a self-taught artist.
She has exhibited in Vancouver
at the Gallery Move, the Barroco
Gallery and Klee Wyck House.
Presently, Megan's ideas and inspiration
are derived from small
creatures and plants such as insects,
reptiles and mushrooms
which could be easily overlooked,
stepped on or eaten, but on closer
observation reveal a world of
detailed, intricate patterns and
graceful movements.
The gallery hours are noon to six
on Saturday and Sunday. Meet the
artists on November 1 and 2 when
refreshments will be provided.
For the month of December a
collection of prints, paintings and
drawings by the three artists will
be exhibited.
Saturna Scene
BY FLORA RATZLAFF
A Thanksgiving service was held
on October 7 with over 20 people in
attendance, something of a record
for Saturna. Reverend Powell delivered
an inspiring sermon on the
theme, "As long as the earth shall
last, seed time and harvest shall
not fail."
The church itself was most
beautifully decorated, thanks again
to Marjorie Blaine. Thanks also to
all those who contributed flowers
or produce.
The Saturna Senior Citizens met
at dinner on October 8 for the
opening meeting of their fall and
winter series. There was a record
attendance and the film Good
Morning Miss Dove was shown and
enjoyed by all.
Here is the news you have been
waiting for. The autograph party
planned for Mrs. Dora Carney will
be held on Friday, Oct. 24, 1 to 3
book, Foreign Devils Had Light
Eyes. Coffee and tea will be
served.
Wednesday, October 22. 1980
Also at the Lighthouse Pub, on
Hallowe'en night, Friday, Oct. 31,
a Hallowe'en Masquerade Party
will be held. Oil that rusty imagination
and come in your best costume.
Prizes will be given for best
couple, most original costume and
best individual costume.
There will be a little trick
awaiting those who don't have a
