Pierre Katona
Pierre has gone way above and beyond in pleasing and
delighting the clients. He has demonstrated tenacity tempered
with tolerance while helping drive his project. Even with added
workload and stress, he has embraced the project with little
complaining. Feedback from the client demonstrates just how
valuable he has been to the client’s project.

Wildhorse Foundation announces new awards
PENDLETON – The Wildhorse Foundation,
a community benefit fund established
by the Confederated Tribes
of the Umatilla Indian Reservation to
support organizations in northeastern
Oregon and southeastern Washington,
has announced the awards for the fourth
quarter of 2010.
A total of $171,639 was awarded to 29
recipients, bringing the total for 2010 to
more than $628,000.
More than 400 local and regional nonprofits
have benefited from Foundation
grants, which now total over $5 million
since giving began in 2001.
The grants went to a variety of projects,
including $15,000 to the Benton Franklin
Fair and Rodeo for capital improvements
in the rodeo arena and $12,500 to complete
the costs of new playground equipment
at Pilot Rock Elementary School.
Other examples of contributions were
the $9,000 to pay for tennis court repairs
in Adams and $10,000 for the city of
Echo to purchase vintage style drinking
fountain, benches, trees and construct
planters.
Organizations funded in the fourth
quarter for 2010 are:
American Legion Post No. 43, Funds to be used for
purchasing steel building and erecting of the building
for a Family Center, La Grande, $7,500.
Athena – Weston School District, Purchase four
Promethean Interactive Boards; four Activ classroom
wireless USB Hubs; four activ wands and four activ
Slates, Athena, $6,970.
Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo, funds to be used to
help off-set the costs of the capital improvement in the
rodeo arena, Kennewick, $15,000.
Blue Mountain Community College, Purchase of
equipment for training survey technicians in the Civil
Engineering technology, Pendleton.
Blue Mountain Land Trust, Funds for the stewardship
and monitoring program for a property to ensure
that the terms of the easement are upheld forever. The
easement provides perpetual protection for 35 acres
on both sides of this stretch of the Touchet River, Walla
Walla, $1,000.
City of Adams, Repair/Resurface Community Park
Tennis Court, Adams, $9,000.
City of Echo, Main Street Historic Enhancement
- Funds will purchase vintage style drinking fountain,
benches, trees and construct planters, Echo, $10,000.
City of Umatilla, Purchase 3 benches; 2 interpretive
signs; food for volunteers; native trees/plants; a work
crew to remove invasive trees and plants; a weed barrier
system and glyphosate to suppress weeds, cover other
contracted services, Umatilla, $7,500.
Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts, purchase a large
scale exposure unit and pay for shipping of same and
related equipment supplies, Pendleton, $4,500.
Dream Catcher Therapeutics, Funds to provide
veterinary care; daily feeding; boarding and training of
three therapy horses, Pendleton, $3,000.
Freewater Elementary School, Radio Communication
Project, Purchase 25 sets of TriSquare TSX300-2VP
Digital Radios, Milton Freewater, $1,689.
La Grande School District, Funds for Third Grade
Learn-to-Swim Program, La Grande, $2,000.
Libraries of Eastern Oregon - On Line Learning:

Diversity Named Scholarship Program - Fund 10 Wildhorse
Foundation Campus Diversity Scholarships at the
$1,000 level, Marylhurst, Ore., $10,000.
Oregon Rural Action, Youth Garden Education Enrichment
Program - Grant will cover 40% of the program
budget, La Grande, $2,100.
Pendleton Senior Center, Purchase a top-of-the-line
heavy duty stainless steel Tempstar Dishwasher and
have it installed, Pendleton, $10,000.
Pilot Rock Elementary School Parent Teacher Club
- Funds will be used to pay the remaining costs of the
new playground equipment, half the funds have been
raised, Pilot Rock, $12,500.
Pioneer Humane Society - Renovate Pendleton
Animal Welfare Shelter (PAWS), pay for plumbing and
concrete cutting contractors, Pendleton, $10,000.
Pioneer Relief Nursery - Funds to be used to help
fund the Outreach Program: half the salary of Program
Manager; monthly Newsletter; half of direct program
costs of the Parenting Education and Planned Respite,
Pendleton, $10,000.
Potlatch Fund - Funds to be used for capacity
building trainings that they undertake in Oregon during
2011; they anticipate holding 8 trainings in Oregon and
Seattle, $5,000.
Umatilla Basin Watershed Council - Wages for
the Program Managers to put together project and for
materials for eight sessions; advertising of program and
prizes for Weed Day Project, Pendleton, $1579.
Walla Walla Basin Watershed Council - Pay in-part
salary of the STELLAR Coordinator and in-full the
teacher’s stipend; provide 4 camp scholarships; purchase
in part miscellaneous supplies and craft supplies,
Milton Freewater, $2,600.
Walla Walla Symphony, Walla Walla Free Youth
Music Project - Funds to be used to compensate the
professional musicians, administrators and music instructors,
Walla Walla, $5,000.
Wallowa Avalanche Center - To model a program
developed by Utah Avalanche Center: Free Lectures;
Rental fees for classroom; Projector; Educational products;
Funds to offset expenses; website enhancements,
Joseph, $4,000.
Wallowa Valley Music Alliance - Funds to go toward
paying artist fees for three community concert series,
Enterprise, $3,000.
Youth for Christ/Blue Mountain Hermiston Campus
Life, Inc. - Build a Concrete Skate Park, Hermiston,
$10,000.
