4.8 Cross-Border Integration
The Borderwise Project is a cross-border information and
advice project developed in partnership between Comhairle
and Citizens Advice in Northern Ireland. It is being funded
by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland for a
two-year period under the Peace 2 funding programme.
The project provides support to CICs and Citizen Advice
Bureaux (CABx) in border counties in dealing with queries
of a cross-border nature and in responding to the
information and advice needs of people adversely affected
by the ‘Troubles’.
During 2004, a part-time Project Manager was appointed
on secondment from Comhairle to Citizens Advice Belfast.
The three Advice and Information Workers who were
appointed in 2003 each successfully completed Comhairle’s
FETAC-accredited Information Providers Training
Programme in 2004. In turn, two of the Borderwise
workers delivered their training sessions to CIC personnel in
Carrickmacross and Donegal Town on the topic of ‘Frontier
Workers’– i.e. those living on one side of the border and
working on the other side.
4.8 Comhtháthú Trasteorann
Tionscadal trasteorann eolais agus comhairle is ea
Borderwise, a chuir Comhairle chun cinn i
gcomhpháirtíocht le Citizens Advice i dTuaisceart Éireann.
Tá sé á mhaoiniú ag an eagraíocht Community Foundation
for Northern Ireland ar feadh tréimhse dhá bhliain faoin
gclár maoinithe Peace 2. Tacaíonn an tionscadal le hIonaid
contaetha teorann agus iad ag plé le ceisteanna
trasteorann agus ag freagairt do riachtanais eolais agus
comhairle daoine a ndeachaigh na ‘Trioblóidí’ i gcion
go dona orthu.
Ceapadh Bainisteoir Tionscadail pháirtaimseartha ar iasacht
ó Chomhairle ar Citizens Advice i mBéal Feirste i rith na
bliana 2004. D’éirigh leis na triúr Oibrithe Eolais agus
Comhairle a ceapadh i 2003 an Clár Oiliúna do
Sholáthraithe Eolais de chuid Chomhairle atá creidiúnaithe
ag Comhairle na nDámhachtainí Breisoideachais agus
Oiliúna a chríochnú. Ina dhiaidh sin thug beirt oibrithe
Borderwise cúrsaí oiliúna do phearsanra Ionaid Eolais do
Shaoránaigh i gCarraig Mhachaire Rois agus i mbaile Dhún
na nGall ar an ábhar ‘Oibrithe Teorann’ – is é sin le rá ar
oibrithe a chonaíonn ar thaobh amháin den teorainn ach a
oibríonn ar an taobh eile.
