that cure which Jesus Christ wrought upon <strong>the</strong><br />

hum<strong>an</strong> nature, being in d<strong>an</strong>ger <strong>of</strong> everlasting<br />

perdition : for Hezekiah which signifleth helped<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lord, typifieth m<strong>an</strong>kind labouring under<br />

<strong>the</strong> sickness <strong>of</strong> sin <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> death. Isaiah, who<br />

brought <strong>the</strong> medicine that cured him (<strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> is in<br />

terpreted <strong>the</strong> Salvation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lord), figured our<br />

blessed Eedeemer, <strong>by</strong> whom <strong>the</strong> hum<strong>an</strong> nature<br />

is restored; <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> whose sending into <strong>the</strong> world<br />

was mystically shewed <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> miracle <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sun's<br />

retrpgadation. To praise God for that mystery<br />

<strong>the</strong>refore (<strong>the</strong> circumst<strong>an</strong>ces being well con<br />

sidered), this Hymn seemeth very proper.<br />

doubtless for this cause it was partly preserved<br />

for <strong>the</strong>se our times, <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> ought <strong>of</strong>ten <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> heartily<br />

to be sung to that purpose.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Lord (said I) where now <strong>the</strong> living be,<br />
