Membership & Outreach Accomplishments
In 2006, Rock the Earth volunteers worked thousands of hours at events around the country, to make our third year of
membership and outreach more successful than we could have imagined. Public education and outreach about the
projects on which we are working is our primary means of garnering support for RtE’s environmental projects that are
of critical significance today. Our presence at music events engages musicians and the music community as a whole
to become educated, active and involved in protecting our natural resources across the country for the enjoyment of
future generations.
In 2006, RtE ...
• more than doubled our 2005 membership and email list, with a total of 1,668 members and over 8,400 people
on our email list
• renewed 165 of our members, raising over $14,000
• gained almost 4,300 potential volunteers and organized 100 volunteers nationwide
• raised over $55,000 in RtE memberships to support our project work and outreach
• volunteers donated over 10,000 hours of time in furtherance of the Rock the Earth’s mission
• worked 120 events in 26 states, totaling 162 concert dates
• completed an extensive Education and Outreach Summer Tour over 18 weeks, working 88 events over four months,
in which we gained over $28,000, almost 700 new members and almost 3,000 new contacts on our mailing list
while working with (amongst others):
- Bonnie Raitt for 15 shows;
- Dave Matthews Band for 22 shows;
- Allman Brothers Band for 6 shows;
- Bon Jovi for 4 shows;
- Bela Fleck’s Acoustic Planet Tour for 10 shows;
- Guster/Ray LaMontagne for 7 shows;
- The String Cheese Incident/Ratdog for 5 shows; and
- such high-profile festivals as Bonnaroo, High Sierra Music
Festival, Summer Camp, 10,000 Lakes Music Festival,
All Good Music Festival, Langerado, Gathering of the
Vibes, Smilefest, Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, FUNK
Fest and Harmony Festival
